  1. Crown 88.2 Cadets 86.8 YESSSSS!!!!!! Crown took 1st place in all captions except for 2nd place in guard. Cadets were 1st in guard, 2nd in everything else.
  2. OMG this entire conversation has been going on since the early 80's! Drum corps IS Art. Drum corps IS Sport. There's something for everyone. A mixed bag of "deep" show concepts and not-so-deep toe tapping shows. It's all good! There you have it. Now just go out there and enjoy. If you don't get the show, just enjoy the PERFORMANCE from the kids.
  3. Though the show on Orlando was rained out and corps performed standstill, DCI has posted those performances on the Fan Network! Best of all, many corps including Carolina Crown and Blue Stars performed with brass and battery ONLY! For those purists out there, this is a real treat. It's not often we get to hear show music while not on the move. Thank you DCI for posting this! Check it out! http://v2.thefannetwork.org/?network_id=1
  4. Thanks. That leaves Seattle Cascades and need confirmation on Academy.
  5. Just added Carolina Crown housing info. All that's left is Cascades and Pioneer.
  6. I thought they were staying at Poth High School. What happened?
  7. Still awaiting housing info for Carolina Crown, Cascades, Glassmen and Pioneer. Every year it's the same thing. Corps housing for San Antonio not completely secured till the very last minute. Maybe DCI needs help with this next year?
  8. Just sent an email to corps director and ops director.
  9. Ok I just got official confirmation. Pacific Crest is at Pearsall Middle School. Blue Stars are at Pearsall High School. They are sharing rehearsal fields. Pacific Crest is going on much sooner so there won't be too much overlap during rehearsals.
  10. Holy sunburst, Batman! The Troopers are BACK!!!!!!!! I only had to watch the first 30 seconds of their show on the Fan Network from Denver and already it's their best corps in AGES! GO TROOP!
  11. Best thing would be for DCI webmasters to explain what happened.
  12. That doesn't jive because someone said here that Pacific Crest was at Pearsall High School. Need confirmation for both. Maybe one corps is at the high school and the other is at the middle school?
  13. Yeah I just saw this. It has to be a hack. No other explanation. Whoever it did it is a drum corps fan and a computer whiz and I bet they live in California. Possibly a former or even current corps member of one of the Cali Open Class corps who has a grudge against Impluse and Incognito.
  14. I'm just thankful we even have something like the Fan Network at all. 15 + years ago the only time we ever got to see DCI outside of attending a show was the live broadcast on PBS of finals. Then it would take months before audio or video recordings of finals to be shipped. The fact that we have the ability to watch live shows throughout the season more often and then watch them over and over again is truly awesome.
  15. Called someone at Crown just now and they still have no housing site confirmed.
  16. Up until now I had no idea Andre Feagin was caption head (manager) for the Vanguard A corps. With that in mind now I'm thinking it's NO WONDER they have their best sounding hornline in years! I have no doubts that Andre has brought along his wealth of talent and experience to teach the Vanguard hornline. He was with Crown during the time when they started making their move up the top 12 ranks working along side many current Crown brass staffers. I'm sure that experience from a brass technique standpoint is with him. Memphis Sound won their only DCI championship when Andre Feagin was their corps director which, unfortunately for them, was just for one year. He was a member and drum major of Phantom Regiment and I think he aged out in 2002. If they keep Andre on as caption head for more than a year I think we'll see the SCV hornline steadily improve. In regards to the original posts comment about having a "smaller bottom" they could have an even smaller low brass section than that but as long as every player contributes 100% and their technique is correct then they will produce a high quality of sound. Matching horns, matching mouthpieces, matching technique = excellent tone + excellent intonation which equals greater volume.
  17. Problems always come up that even God could not predict.
  18. Added Blue Knights, Madison Scouts and Mandarins.
