JazzmanSA80
Why yes I have, and I am very familiar with their brass program. I am just suggesting that the word loud might be better applied to some other lines who might push volume over quality of sound. You are correct, they are producing a great deal of volume as well as quality. I think that when they get some the tech stuff cleaned and lined up, they will see better brass marks. in other words, balance + intonation = louder. Crown doesn't blast when they want to play loud and shrug off whatever nastiness comes along. They get their volume from their "wall of sound," by playing as balanced as possible, but not over-blowing.
MelloDisciple
and by the use of large numbers in the brass line. Volume by numbers as well.
Jazzycat1
Well, and at the same time they are being given perc numbers right up there with the elite, so take that for what its worth. You got that right! Crown's drumline is worlds ahead of last year! Good for them - love to see them in the top 6 this year!
hornzilla
They were having intonation issues in the cold weather at the Ft. Edwards show that didn't seem to affect Boston's and Cadets' hornlines. But you can see the potential! Good impact points with a few individual stickouts as usual... overall a great hornline that is certainly getting rewarded handsomely for their quality of sound, blend and balance.
