Recommended Posts

Hey so im writing a persuasive speech in my english class and im in the last class of the day so all the good topics were gone. So i decided to write why the performaning arts should be considered a sport. I need history and like average hours practicing and money spent and injuries and stuff! I cant find like any good sites on history and all that stuff! So if yall know any good sites or have any history you know of, LET ME KNOW!

Mason:

So, why not go to the expert at your school: the band director? He'll be able to give you an average...

Also, perhaps give BOA a call? Maybe they have an average on what a BOA band rehearses?

What about your own guard experiences? Look at your rehearsal schedule and figure it out.

Good luck!

Mason:

If you can, go to an individual drum corps' website and look at their rehearsal schedule (most are probably online) and do the math that way.

C'mon! You gotta do some leg work on your own!

Hey Mason,

I would start by asking yourself, what defines a sport. You need to make a list of requirements that an activity should meet in order to be considered a sport. Then put colorguard into those questions and show how they meet those criteria. It is hard to find a definite history about the development of the winterguard activity. I know because I had to write a 15 page paper on the topic. Also Catina Anderson has a website that is really helpful. The name escapes me at the moment but she is the director at Broad Run High School and you are competing there this weekend. See you there!

If your style is going to be "like" and "stuff" it doesn't matter what your topic is.

Its cool no hard feelings :) Sorry sometimes you cant hear peoples tones over the internet.

But I got a issue of WGI Focus from Fall 2007 which has really helped cuz it had the amount of people at Dayton and a big artlice about the history of WGI. I have found some news articles from DCI member interviews and such so yea. Everythings going great! Thanks for the help :) Oh just one question I wasnt sure. Was the first winterguard an all male guard? I cant find any info on the very first colorguard/winterguard
