Dvldawg411
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Brigadiers to Perform at Mighty St. Joe’s Indoor Preview Show Parish, New York (April 17, 2008) - The Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps will kick off its 2008 “summer” performance season with an appearance at the Mighty St. Joe’s Classic XV, to be held April 26, 2008, at the Greece-Apollo Middle School in Greece, New York. The corps will debut its 2008 program, “Reflexions,” featuring the music of composer Samuel R. Hazo. Arrangers Wayne Downey, David Glyde, and Jim Wunderlich have re-imagined several of Hazo’s most stirring compositions for the 2008 program - “Sevens,” “Echoes,” and “Ride” - augmenting them with their own unique compositional skills. “We’re very excited to get this season underway with a return to the Mighty St. Joe’s Classic,” said Corps Director Rick Martin. “This program is a departure for us, though it still incorporates the power and excitement that the Brigs are known for. We can’t wait to share this tremendous music with the drum corps community and with our fans.” The Classic will feature performances by a number of DCA, Alumni, and Mini Corps. For more information and tickets, go to www.mightystjoes.org. With roots dating to 1938, The Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps was reorganized in 1991 after a nineteen-year absence from competition. The Brigadiers are 5-time Drum Corps Associates World Champions, winning titles in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002, and are the only drum and bugle corps to ever win four consecutive DCA titles. Dale Bari
Is there an echo in here? Pepe LePew: "I I I Love Love Love You! You! You!" Pepe's Echo: "I Love You! I Love You! I Love You!" True story: 1987 Dansville, PA, DCA exhibition show. Steel City Ambassadors has finished performing as a flat bed semi-trailer carrying Maynard Ferguson and his band set up on the field. Several of us stop to listen as MF and the band start playing. After a while we head back to the buses. In our group is Curt Hawkins. As MF starts playing "Gonna Fly Now", Curt stops and says, "Hey, I know this solo!" He starts playing along with Maynard, getting louder and louder. The song ends, and Maynard says into the mike, "I'd like to thank my echo back there!" OK, you can have your thread back now. Good luck, Brigs, at the St Joe's show. Ahhhhh, the St Joe's Classic: good times.
