jameseuph
What kind of snare heads did the Glassmen use last summer (2002)? They sounded really good.
drummerwalt
I believe they used the Remo Powerstroke 77's for most of the season and then switched to Remo White Max's.
schleic8
That's correct. I find that it has less to do with the head on the drum, and much more to do with how you tune them. Jim
gumby5647
when i saw them in Normal IL last year i could have sworn they were using mylar.....
Hulka
They switched from mylar to the WhiteMax about half-way through the summer. Word is they liked the sound of the mylar but the heads just didn't hold up like they had hoped so they were changing/tuning them constantly. I really wish someone would do it all season.
CrownMcNeal
I'd love to march mylar. We used them during camps and everydays but switched before tour. We talked about trying them for the season but figured that we couldn't afford to take any hits score-wise seeing as how we were trying to make a recovery from a 16th place finish in '02. Maybe we'll do it this year...
JBrooks
The mylar heads are great not only for sound, but also for the hands. The head forces you to stroke everything out, and really pull sound from the head. When Glassmen switched back to WhiteMax, they were playing with unbelievable sound quality and control. Unfortunately the heads (Mylar) were way too difficult to maintain. For those of you that have marched, you know what a pain in the butt it can be changing a bottom head during warmup or after a show, or during your dinner break. Imagine changing your heads, top or bottom, 2 , maybe 3 times a day. They would also go out of tune very quickly. The drums would be all tuned up at warmup, but by the time they made it to the gate, they were out of tune again!
