Peel Paint
i know this doesn't confirm the rumor but I was with That Corps Guy when I heard about it. find it interesting if it is true that DCI said "Must book by WEDNESDAY, JULY 9!!!" (capital letters and exclamation points were straight from the DCI email), why does this deadline mean and will they make an announcement soon because of it? You mean DCI Indy hotels had to be booked by July 9 to get DCI rates? That would be just because that was a month out and blocked but unbooked rooms had to be released back to the hotels by then, so the hotels had a good shot at selling them to guests. dc oldtimer
then we get all the corps together to go off on them Cap Reg style (vs NIU a couple of years ago)....which reminds me...why not NIU? it was a great stadium when i went to DCM finals a few years ago...or has DCI stayed away because of the Cap Reg/Northern football fiasco? that can't be it actually cause Cavies spent most of everydays there. 1) Not enough seats 2) Have you BEEN to DeKalb? If you have you would not say such a thing. It's a cow field and it has maybe 2 Hotel 6's. Edited July 9, 2008 by dc oldtimer

OLDSCHOOLER
I feel bad for DCI in this situation. None of these stadium issues are their fault. But, I do know that at this point thousands of people have booked hotels, flights, purchased tickets, etc. With it being July, they need to find out exact details about the Bloomington stadium. At what point is it too late to move it again? If they move it too late, many people who have booked planes and hotels, will not be able to change their reservations. Louisville is not that close to Bloomington or especially Indanapolis. They were already using shuttles from Indy to Bloominton. Would they have shuttles from Bloominton too. Indy to Lousiville would be a pretty long shuttle ride to and from. Half your day would be gone. So much for a vacation and sight seeing if you spend half the day on shuttles.I hope DCI will give us an update on the situation and keep us informed as we get closer to the event. Wrong. This entire situation is the result of DCI commiting to hold the 2008 DCI championship show at a stadium that was scheduled to be completed just weeks before finals. Who in the world would be confortable & confident making this boneheaded decision??? DCI is taking a beating on this & rightly so.
corps fan
even if you give DCI grief for that...who could have imagined that their contigency plan (which was in place when the orginial agreement was made) would also (potentially) become un-usable? traveller30
i know this doesn't confirm the rumor but I was with That Corps Guy when I heard about it. If both of your guy's inside sources have anything to do with things heard at the Kalamazoo show, you may want to hold off getting rid of your Bloomington hotel. It might be that whole "heard from a guy's brother who heard from someone else about a thing about a a place" rule. Hey, you guys aren't the only ones who can be cryptic, you know . CavRookoutMom
I live in Louisville: * I can give ideas on hotels if needed-there are MANY * Papa John's Stadium has LOTS of parking * Easy access to I-65 * MANY resaurants within easy driving distance * Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, is within walking distance (if you are a good walker) from Papa John's, if interested in taking a tour. You get to see the backside and hear some history. Not advocating the move, but it seems do-able as a plan C. Be sure to give me a holler if you want any info about the area! OLDSCHOOLER
I was told ticket sales are off 50% compared to this time last year. Moving again can't help that. They need to make Bloomington work and I hope people are just waiting to buy their tickets last minute. Sometimes people & organzations must bottom out before positive changes are made to improve the organization. I can only hope that when this disaster is over, there are changes in the leadership & management at DCI that will get our activity back on track.
