StarOrg Posted November 6, 2008 Share Posted November 6, 2008 FYI. The annual Southern Star Cup competition has agreed to be the HOST this season of the Southern Regional. This is very exciting for us. We look forward to seeing all the competing corps on the 26th and 27th of December in what we know is the BEST region competition in DCPI. Bright House Stadium on the campus of UCF will be the event location. The Star Organization will once again be hosting this event in conjunction with the Florida Dragon Organization so we should have all the bases covered. As you know we will also be hosting the DCPI XI Finals this season in Honolulu, HI. If another organization would be interested in helping us host this as well that would be great. Please contact us. Wayne Posted November 7, 2008 Share Posted November 7, 2008 Due to this regional most likely attracting more attention and receiving much more attention than originally thought of, rehearsal sites will be at the local high schools, but housing (due to the fact that the corps will have to ACTUALLY sleep and we want our participants to have nice beds rather than uncomfortable bus seats to be on), housing will be set up at the following local colleges and universities: University of Central Florida, Rollins College, and Valencia Community College. If absolutely necessary and we will help with timing and transportation issues, Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL (less than one hour from Orlando) will be used as an ALTERNATE site for housing IF NEED BE. Posted November 8, 2008 Share Posted November 8, 2008 Blaze and Flame will be there, but Inferno will be at the Seattle regional this season, to allow us to participate in the Anchorage, AK, competition, and then Kea'au, HI. We will head back east in time for the FANFARE Championships in Memphis (not a member, but I figure if I can compete strongly with them, I'm in good shape for Honolulu.) Also all corps in attendance be sure to check out SSYAO's Brass on The Beach! Wednesday December 24th at Daytona Municipal Stadium in nearby Daytona Beach.
