contrajedi8
So, given the banner at the top of DCP, it seems you are able to support any corps with the visa card thingy. Seems kinda wierd to me. Why not just sponser a member directly or just donate $100 to the corps? No need to open a credit card to do that. If that is how a person chooses to support the corps, then yes, they do need to open a credit card. If they choose to sponsor a member, then they donate in a different way. If a person opens an account, the corps gets money. If the person uses the card, the corps gets money. The bonus is that the person that may not be able to write the corps a check today, or sponsor a kid today, can pay the thing off over time. Not to mention, many people may already be donating to the corps or sponsoring a member, and opening the credit card because it's bad ### to have a credit card with a pic of the Madison Scouts, or another corps on it, which would be the category I fall into. Fundraising is fundraising, and anything that brings in money to a corps is good for that group, plain and simple.
silvertrombone
Well, to be blunt and honest. The reason people would do this, is because they want to. It is how they want to give to a corps. Maybe they don't want to send a check, maybe they can't at the moment. Maybe they just like this idea. Maybe they have a good interest rate. But shame on them for trying to make funds any way possible. What a horrible thing for them to do. Agreed. And like the person who posted after you said, just giving $100 to the corps of your choice is much more efficient anyways. In case anyone hadn't heard, we're in something of a credit crunch right now. And Citibank's name has already been passed about as being part of the next bailout. First financial companies, now auto companies, next banks and credit card companies! Debt is bad...bad, bad, bad. Besides, the $100 gift is deductible!
