Seeing as Obama is a senator that represents Illinois and lives in Chicago, you would think that at least the Cavaliers would have been handpicked. They would have done a great job. I know the press release went out in November of 2004 for Bush's last inaugural, but he was a sitting president without a transition to concern with. Maybe the one that performs simulated murders is not a smart choice for a major political event. And the one that depicts samurai warriors might not be a favorite of the Secret Service either. Splooie89 Posted December 9, 2008 Share Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) An application was submitted from the Cavaliers organization for a combined effort under the Cavalier Anniversary Corps banner, but there were just too many applicants from Illinois. I know some folks from PR and know that they did not submit an application. Yes, we'd have been a natural choice.....if they were looking for a major drum corps to represent Illinois. However, we are again reminded that drum corps is not necessarily the hot center of everyone's universe. Congratulations to the Cadets and I know they will represent the activity proudly to start off their 75th Anniversary with the tremendous honor of marching in the inaugural parade.
