CLASS ACT Preliminary Competition

Recommended Posts

Gary: I am Gary Currier President of CLASS here with CLASS ACT Organizer Yuri Olefart to bring you live reporting from the CLASS ACT Preliminary Competition. We have a record seven corps this year in CLASS ACT and it looks to be one heck of a show! Knightmare is the defending champion but Yuri, we have some great corps out there including former DCPI Champion marchers and corps who have almost taken this title in the past!

Yuri: yes Gary we sure do. Look for two corps in particular to step up their game tonight to be possible dark horse corps, Triglav and Mystre United. Both corps have been building all season and seem poised to strike NOW!

Gary: Well drama would certainly be a great way to get the activity to grow, so we love a challenge at the top. CLASS is pleased to be sponsoring the circuit and we are ready to get under way with a new corps, Imperial Marching Brigade!

Gary: Imperial Marching Brigade just got off the field and had a great show. The corps has been around the bottom of the group this season, but today’s performance really looks like it could climb up the positions and leap frog a few corps.

Yuri: Yes Gary, the color guard and visual program really seemed to stand out today, but overall it was their percussion that seemed to really boost up the level of performance.

Gary: up next The Sinfonians in their second year with the circuit.

Yuri: This year they are doing the music of Leonard Bernstein, Samuel Barber, and Aaron Copland.

Gary: yes the show entitled An American Musicale has been a real crowd favorite with a mix of popular favorites from the composers. Enjoy The Sinfonians!

Gary: The Sinfonians from Evansville IN have left the field and certainly should see some improved scores, although it could be tight with Imperial.

Yuri: The drums were on FIRE to say the least! Best performance all year!

Gary: Yes and Brass had another strong performance and they could take the caption yet again! Overall GE Music was also off the charts…

Yuri: yes, but visual seemed to lack something today—we shall see when there score is announced.

Field announcer: And we have a preliminary score for the Imperial Marching Brigade of 85.7!

Gary: wow that is a jump of 3.4 from their score just days ago! We were right—they had a great day! Now up the Rocky Top Rangers from Knoxville TN.

Yuri: Rocky Top comes in a strange position for the season. Started off strong taking silver then bronze but last week dropped to 5th! They will be looking to be back up in that top three tonight. And here they are…

Gary: Rocky Top Rangers are now exiting and I have to say, these three first corps all have done a great jump starting the show off with a bang!

Yuri: This is true but all three corps have got to be tight in scores, Imperial really seemed to put the other two under rapid fire!

Gary: The thing about Rocky Top Rangers is that they are consistent across the board, no real weakness but no super strength either—just solid.

Field Announcer: And we have a preliminary score for the Sinfonians of 85.4!

Yuri: first position move of the night as that is not enough to go ahead of Imperial.

Gary: yes but with extremely close scores could still leave door open for Rangers. Last up before the break is the Torchmen from Hamilton GA. Another new corps whose percussion has been a dominant force this year. Can they win yet again?

Gary: The Torchmen!!! WOW! Great show today! There is just something that stands out about this corps that puts them a step up from the others so far. They really could be fighting to get into that top 3!

Yuri: Percussion really had their best show all year and overall music is really strong as well.

Gary: The GE is strong compared to the previous corps but does it have enough to take down the top 3? We shall see!

Field Announcer: We have a preliminary score for Rocky Top Rangers of 85.6!

Gary: WHOA! Those are some close scores! Imperial stays on top of our leader board jumping at least two positions!

Yuri: yes but I doubt that they will hold off the Torchmen! That brings us to our 15 minute break. We have some great Hawaiian favorites so I will see you in the concession stand!

And features the following music...
