I wonder if the same people are involved. If so Im surprised they even remember having a guard..lmao

Ron Comfort now lives in the pacific northwest, so I doubt that ALL the same people are involved.

Will, Im with you!

I think it would be great to see something a little different, and we all know they never conformed.

I give major props to the staff bringing out Shaktai. In todays crisis, alot of the arts programs are being depleted from the schools, so having one more independent guard out gives kids another outlet to do what they love to do, and there is nothing wrong with that.

I support any group that gives our little world of winter guard people a chance to learn, teach, dance, perform and shine. So, I support all of the groups and I would never take cheap shots at "ONE OF MY OWN". All of us involved in one way or another in WGI should support each other not try to put down one another.. like some people.

Facts to be acknowledged:

Cheryl Wimberly taught Coast One and Shaktai Performace Company

NEI's instructional staff came from Coast One and performed with Shaktai Performance Company

Shaktai was Bronze Medalist in 1933 (Open Class)

And finished top 10 in World Class prior to folding. ( Top 10 is never bad, nor is the performers and achievements to be ignored or less valued.)

Within the Florida Circuit They have a division named after them...

The list of the staffs credentials go on and on and on

The members that performed in Shaktai have gone on to be highly successful in teaching, designing, being highly sought after technician, and having very successful World class Independent Guards.

So, when quoting and comparing(for some people) do your history, it will reveal that the very groups in which you quote as outstanding color guards, and in which I do agree, have been influenced, staffed, or their instructors(other color guards mentioned) have taught members and or staff of Shaktai.

I can only hope they come out, I'd love to see something different, and I know without a doubt that I will be on my feet. Shaktai never seemed to care about what the score sheet said, but was more concerned if the audience was entertained, it could have been thought provoking, fun, dark, or just wild. I never walked away feeling like I had just wasted my time watching another "safe" show.

The creative vision of the staff and designers should always be respected, now each is entitled to his or her own "taste" and choice of style, but no one should ever lessen the artistic vision or weight of the design of any show. If you like it then great if you don't thats okay too, thats what makes WGI great to watch. Its the diversity, and Shaktai will bring diversity. At least I will remember them later.

Shoot it looks like some people remember them 10 years later, not bad.. not bad at all!

Good Luck and they have my support!
