WestCoaster
here's a kind of "out there" one:Crown joined Crossmen as the 2nd corps that hasn't won a championship to beat everyone on finals night except the Blue Devils at some point in their history... I think. edit: "everyone" = currently competing corps Crossmen? What about the 27th Lancers (and for that matter, Spirit of Atlanta as well and maybe Bridgemen too)? EDIT...okay, scratch the Lancers. True they were 2nd to the Blue Devils in 1980 and never won a title, but actually they've placed ahead of EVERYONE at finals without winning a title since they placed way ahead of the Blue Devils in 1973 (and on further consideration, the Lancers never beat Star of Indiana at finals either). Spirit though, makes the cut I think. They were 4th in 1980, never won a title, never placed ahead of the Blue Devils in finals, and beat the other two ahead from 1980 (Lancers and Bridgemen) in 1983...they also placed higher than Star of Indiana in 85 and 86. As for Bridgemen, they placed ahead of the Lancers in 1977 but were disqualified , and they, too, never beat Star in finals (they DID however also beat the Blue Devils in 1973). soccerguy315
Crossmen? What about the 27th Lancers (and for that matter, Spirit of Atlanta as well and maybe Bridgemen too)? I will look into these (I have nothing else to do, obviously). 27th hasn't beaten Crown though, nor has Bridgemen Spirit might be a winner though... they have beaten Phantom, Cadets, Vanguard, Crown, and Cavaliers on finals night. MagicBobert
Sounds like a way of trying to rub it in towards certain people. Um, may I ask who? Apparently I'm not aware of my own subtext...

jhallman
•This breaks Santa Clara Vanguard's streak of winning once every decade since DCI started My prediction..SCV's show next year will be called Phantom of the Opera :)
WestCoaster
I will look into these (I have nothing else to do, obviously).27th hasn't beaten Crown though, nor has Bridgemen Well, it gets a little tricky when you start talking different eras and all. I threw in Star because the groups actually did compete head to head. Using the "Bridgemen never beat Crown" argument, Crown never beat Blue Rock either. bluecoats88
for those who asked about the largest spread between 1st and 2nd at finals. the answer is 1973 1st - 88.65 2nd - 86.15 this is a 2.5 point difference which is the largest spread between first and second at DCI finals. the second largest spread is 1976 92.7 to 90.
