Being from the northeast that's a totally foreign concept to me. I can see doing it for free for a veterans orginization or public relations purposes, but PAYING for it? No way! That's why you won't see any corps marching in parades in TX. Although one corps was offered "up to" $1000 to participate in a parade last year, it would have cost over $2000 to get instruments to the parade site and back-- not including the performers.
