The Miracle Continues to Unfold!

Matt has had another great day today, and his progress continues. He had some friends visit, and I heard he was even making some jokes!

He was able to play some piano today in therapy as well! His therapist was even pleasantly surprised with his physical ability. His right side needs the most physical attention, but he is doing a great job and expected to recover his motion. :worthy:

Matt is starting to be able to process and understand more strongly than before what has happened to him. This of course is emotional, and his true understanding of the situation will continue to grow and get better with time.

Along with this, Matt's family is sharing with him the overwhelming support he has been receiving from all of you, the prayers from his family friends and students, and he began to tear up over it.

We are going to try to span out visitation as to not overwhelm him at this time... try to keep an even span across the week, rather than over doing it on a particular day or time.

Matt's discharge from Santa Clara is set for September 1st. This could be moved up though if his progress gets ahead of schedule.

I was speaking with Mike and Joy just a bit ago... and she asked me if I remember the first day Matt was in the hospital... when his condition was explained. She told me, "We need a miracle." And now look, they told me over the phone, that miracle is unfolding right before our eyes. Thank you for all of your prayers and for asking God to use Matt as vessel for something miraculous when it was needed the most.

Words can't describe how excited I am for my friend to fully recover and be back fully to the addition he has been in all of our lives for so long.

Please keep your thoughts, energy, prayer, love and support coming. You are all contributing to his amazing progress, and Matt still has a ways to go... he still needs ya!

We love you Matty, Keep going!!

With much love and happiness, I will keep you posted. =)

Good Afternoon!

Matt is still plugging away at rehab, and doing well. He is just doing amazing at his physical therapy and is moving onward and upward! Please continue to pray for his improvements both physically and cognitively. We still need your love and prayers for improvement, patience, and understanding on this road to recovery.

Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MIKE TODAY! I can't imagine a better birthday gift than to be able to see Matt's improvements and to be able to be by his side. :)

Good Morning!

Even more great news today about Matt! Because he is doing so well, Matt's release date From SCV Medical Rehabilitation will be August 19th. :) He will spending the next two weeks hitting it hard with aggressive therapy, but this is where he is at, and his rehab team understands he is ready for this. Matt will be pushed, but his life and work ethic has prepared him well for this. This is very exciting news, and your thoughts, prayers and encouragement will continue to battle by his side!

Matt's Rehabilitation therapists are working on developing an outpatient strategy for Matt. As we know, Matt is unique and they are working to be innovative just for him, and all of his progress, and determination. What a blessing it is to have such wonderful care form these specialists who are doing such great work with Matt!

Matt's blood pressure is still being a little stubborn, and medically they are working on getting this stable and where it needs to be before his release. Please continue to pray for Matt's blood Pressure, that seems to be as stubborn as he is! ;-)

So good news all around, and still bumps to overcome along the journey. All of your energy and prayer is still very appreciated and I know Matt will cherish it as he works so hard. You have helped him come this far, let's keep going Matt!

Below is Mike's message from this morning:

Good morning Matty's family

I decided to change my greeting to you all. You are all part of Matty's family because you love him like he is a part of you. That's what family is alll about.

Matty had a surprise birthday present for me yesteray. He walked unaided by his therapist. One more miletone! Today he gets to leave the hospital, not far but getting out for a walk is good therepy. Tonight he will go to a local "jazz in the park" event. We are also waiting to hear from Matty's doctor on plans going forward. The therapists team will now push hard intensifying on his needs.

His blood pressure variations still remain difficult to regulate. We will inquire more of the doctors today. As I awoke this morning this concern was immediate in my thoughts. Worry was at my door. So I turned to God's word and as always found peace and assurance. In Psalm 139 David writes " How precious are your thoughts about me(Matty), O God. They are so numerous! I cant even count them;they outnumber the grains of saind! And when I wake up you are still with me.!

Well there you have it once again. Instead of worry in the morning we have Our Lord who never sleeps. Have a blessed day and keep writing those lyrics for Matty.,

LOve to you all Mike and Joy Carroll
