hmm...

I own a

Bach Bb student model trumpet

Holton Cornet (not sure of model...it's older than I am)

Yamaha student model trombone

I play:

Yamaha Bb 4/rotor valve concert tuba

4 valve silver besson euph

I have recently started playing mello I started out on a Yamaha F mellophone....

then was promoted (because it was too heavy for the other chics in my section) to an Olds F mello....it's really bell heavy, but I like the sound, and would probably like it more if I could find a better mouthpiece for it. Right now I'm playing on a 1 1/2c trumpet mpc....so if anyone could help me out...it would be appreciated.

the UMI mello 6 mouthpiece works pretty well in a Kanstul...i don't know about an Olds but it's worth a shot i suppose...

of all the mouthpieces i've tried, it works pretty well for me...

Our mellos used a cornet mouthpiece (don't remember what kind) with a converter, since the mouthpiece wouldn't fit properly in the horn by itself. I really liked the sound it produced; I thought it was much richer and darker than it had been with the 6Vs.

We've talked about mouthpieces.  How about your horns?

Bass Trombone is my first instrument, I play the following:

Bass Trombone: Bach 50B3 custom

Tenor Trombone: King 3B

Euphonium: Yamaha YEP-321

Tuba: Yamaha YEB-621S Eb (silver)

Valve Trombone: Blessing Marching Trombone (jazz stuff)

(also unofficially, lots of percussion instruments, several synths, a Fender 5-string Jazz Bass, etc.)

john

p.s. I do love the Yamaha 613H Bass Trombone for more commercial and recording stuff, and may pick one up this year.

I have a Kanstul Custom Series G Mellphone, a Yamaha 667N French Horn (lacquer taken off), and a Dynasty Mello.

Also, I'm trying to pinpoint a general age as to how old my Kanstul is. Heard various things. The only thing tell-tale about it is that is says Kanstul, Fullerton, Ca. on the bell. What time period would that throw it in? Thanks!

How much do you want for the Kanstul Contra ,maybe a K90 trade?
