Have anyone ever noticed...

There were bugs all over the field that year. I almost missed the step off to the show because I was mesmerized by a particularly large moth at my feet in the opening set. -

Craziest visual ever?
offmurray replied to AlanAndreasen's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
The slow motion crash scene from 89 Garfield. I also remember watching their show and seeing a soprano tossed 20 or 30 feet in the air during a scatter. I think it was in 90 -
Has anyone ever done AC/DC for a show?

I thought this was a "pick out VK's visual caption head as a child" game. I was going to go for #2.

So, is it VK or Velvet Knights now?

What makes a drum corps is a set of ideas and style. That's a bigger thing than then the people running it. Did the Blue Devils stop being the Blue devils when Jerry Seawright stepped down as director, with all the changes as Madison Scouts should we now call them MS? As much as I would love to see the 1988 or 1992 VK out on the field again it won't happen. I'll never get to see the 1988 blue devils again either. The activity has evolved but the ideas that have made great corps great has continued. I thank those who made VK great when I marched and it is those ideas that I hope to pass on to those in the VK I now have the privilage to teach. It is my hope that I can help the members of VK who march this year be as proud of their corps as the VK alumni who have posted here obviously are of theirs.

You had shoes? Back when I marched all the football fields were uphill and covered in snow. -
Best DCI show based on rock/pop music
offmurray replied to madscout96's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Just a little trivia: one of the reasons the Tommy show was chosen was because the judges were complaining that all BD played was jazz and wanted them to expland. We did yet every time we got to PBW the music judges would say 'this is the BD I know'. So much for listening to judges. -
The worst runs were when vets lined up in the back of the block. You knew a rookie was getting snuggied at the end of the run.

I always thought F tuning was BD corps song.

We were discouraged from drinking soda but it was never not allowed. As for free day, I don't ever remember spending money on soda. B)

It can be argued that BD's 1988 show was a themed show, it was a "BD" theme. At least in the minds of the judges. It might not of had a name but that show screamed Blue Devils. From what I understand the judges were beginning to complain that BD was playing the same style of music from year to year and they wanted to hear them play something else. This was one of the reasons the Tommy show of chosen in '90.

Because the red hightops had a white stripe across the bottom of the shoe it was real obvious if foot angles were not consistent. The change happened about the same time Corps started removing the white stripe from the pants.
