KeithHall
I was looking up scores concerning Precisionnaires in 1975. I will start with August 9 at US Open, the corps placed 11th with a 63.7. They were beat by Squires (73.4), Freelancers (71), Argonne Rebels, Saints (72.45) and General Butler Vagabonds 67.80. On August 12th at the NT Open they placed 4th with a 76.20 (almost 13 point increase) but were beat by Toronto Optimists (83), Freelancers (82) and Argonne Rebels (81) Three days later at DCI Championship Prelims Osage scores a 78.65 for 14th place behind Squires who were only .35 ahead of them. Osage beat the following corps that they saw the past week...Toronto (75.6), Freelancers (74.0), Argonne Rebels (73.15), Saints (73.35) and General Butler Vagabonds (70.65). Nowadays you kind of know where you'll place by mid July. Any former members out there know what happened to push the corps up the ladder so quickly in a few days? dc oldtimer
Ahhhh, old drum corps. The days of up and down scoring. In '76 we barely beat Garfield by 2 10th's to win VFW Nationals. Three days later we beat them by 5 points taking 5th in DCI prelims. Garfield didn't make finals. Crazy days.
KeithHall
A couple things in "A" Class.... At Butler Greece Cadets won prelims and finals followed by upsate NY rival The Gauchos. The spread in finals was 1.25. Finals spread was 5.0. The Gauchos beat Charioteers, Floridians Marksmen and Glassmen. At DCI Prelims....Greece won and Gauchos came in 6th. The spread between Greece and them was 9.15. Gauchos were beat by The corps that they beat in Butler. Anyone know what happened? ALSO....At Butler Capitol Aires took 7th in Prelims and at finals jumped to 4th and yet at DCI lost to St. Ignatius.
