Who we've lost

How many are left?

The ones who figured it the f__ out.

Running a non-profit isn't a game for sissies. I worked in NPO management for two decades in Chicago, and saw a number of hugely respected, award-winning non-profit arts organizations fall along the wayside when they lost a big grant or had an artistic season that failed to catch on. In the end, the art of what you do isn't enough ; you need the business sense and someone on the staff who understands how to run the charity like a business.

Rather than bemoaning the dead, I'd rather buy a friggin drink for the hard ##### who stuck with it and kept their corps alive. Good on THEM.
