Dash Fieldpaint
I think I'm totally off base with my rambling bus stories. Here's a picture of this bus from 1997, the season after I aged out. Cron probably did ride this thing during his years. I assumed that since we didn't use the ancient buses in 96 that none of them were used ever again.
contrajedi8
Back in the days when corps used to ride around in their own busses with the corps name on the side. Back when corps identity meant something. When drum and bugle corps was different. Not summer BOA. Sorry to sound like a bitter dinosaur. Flame away if you wish... John Schmitt
Back in the days when corps used to ride around in their own busses with the corps name on the side. From what I understand, it's just too expensive for a corps to own, operate and maintain their own mini fleet of buses. Particularly since they sit nine months out of the year. It's a lot easier and cheaper to lease them for a few hundred grand a summer. It's likely more legal as well with professional drivers who know and follow all the dot rules. 2001 bluecoats met our old 1975ish MCI Crusader #723 (the one that hit the bridge in CT) in the lot belonging to our leasing company at the time. It was a very surreal experience at 2 AM a couple months into tour.
