SKYLINERS DRUM & BUGLE CORPS ANNOUNCES 2014 PERCUSSION STAFF

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 8, 2013. The Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps is excited to announce the appointment of the following 2014 Percussion Staff: Eric Boylan - Percussion Caption Head; Tommy Wynder - Assistant Percussion Caption Head; Ashley Eden - Front Ensemble Technician; and Brendan Carter - Bass Drum Technician.

Eric Boylan has previously been announced as Percussion Arranger. View Skyliners 2014 Design Team Announcement

Tommy Wynder, Assistant Percussion Caption Head, is a performer and educator who can adapt to any musical situation. Whether playing to thousands of fans a year, laying down tracks in the studio, or working with the best marching bands in Pennsylvania, you can tell why Tommy Wynder is such an in-demand musician and educator immediately after seeing and hearing him play or teach just once.

Wynder’s versatility seems to have been a given since his early days. As a teenager, he played in touring bands and at the same time he was racking up awards at high school jazz and marching band competitions. He has shared stages with icons like Aretha Franklin, Gin Blossoms, Jewel, Rob Thomas, David Garibaldi, Omar Hakim, Adam Deitch, Bob Becker and Lee Howard Stevens.

Tommy's playing skills are very much natural, but he has also honed them by studying with top educators. In turn, he has become an educator himself. As Director of Percussion for Lake-Lehman High School, he led the marching band and percussion program to four consecutive percussion championships in the TOB/TIA circuit, and he has also been a percussion and jazz band judge for the National Judges Association. Wynder maintains a large private teaching studio, as well as teaching master classes in percussion. Tommy is currently the drummer for Nowhere Slow. You also can catch Tommy on several TV ads, and video game soundtracks. In addition, Tommy is endorsed by Vic Firth Drumsticks, Evans Drumheads, Soultone Cymbals, Protection Racket Cases, Cympad Cymbal Felts, Groove Juice Inc. and Kickport.

Ashley Eden, Front Ensemble Technician, has been involved in the drum corps activity since 2005. She spent 2005-2009 in the front ensemble of the Hawthorne Caballeros and 2011-2012 with the Connecticut Hurricanes. Since 2005, Ashley has been working with the front ensemble of the Cedar Cliff Marching Band from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Currently, Ashley teaches math at Dauphin County Technical School.

Brendan Carter, Bass Drum Technician, has been teaching percussion at local high schools since 2008. He began teaching at Lake-Lehman High School under the direction of former band director Greg Riley. While at Lake-Lehman Brendan also began working with the indoor percussion ensemble. During his time at Lake-Lehman the percussion consistently placed in the top 10 in TOB and in 2009 Lake-Lehman won the TIA Scholastic Middle School Percussion Championship. Since then Brendan has worked with Wyoming Area High School from 2009 to present, Pittston Area High School 2010-present, as well as Dallas High School 2013-present. In 2010 Brendan became a Vic Firth educator.

At Wyoming Area, Brendan directs the Indoor Percussion ensemble which has since gone on to win the 2012 Scholastic Novice Percussion and the 2012 Scholastic Middle School Stationary Percussion Championships in TIA. While at Pittston Area, the percussion has consistently achieved the high percussion award in the Independence Open conference at Cavalcade Championships. Brendan is currently the marching band director at Pittston Area High School.

We welcome Eric, Tommy, Ashley and Brendan to the Skyliners 2014 Team, and look forward to working with them as we bring the Skyliners back to the field of competition. Keep up-to-date with us via the Skyliners Website, or the new Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps Facebook Page. For more information, please contact Larry Carbonell.
