perc2100
It is pretty crazy what a drum corps can do when it manages its money well, has continuity of staff, and invests in ventures outside of just the summer. For sure. The continuity keeps the corps both wildly successful on the field, attracting some of the top talent in the activity to march (and pay fees to do so), while also continually redefining the activity itself. It's amazing that a drum and bugle corps who has been active relatively a small amount of time compared to its peers at the top (Cavaliers, Cadets, SCV, Madison Scouts, Phantom Regiment) has such a far-reaching hold on the activity. I can't imagine any other corps being "successful" enough, from a financial + branding standpoint, to be able to set up separate business-only type ensembles that tour the world and do as much as BD does. It really is incredible, and I'm continually amazed & impressed with Blue Devils' outside-the-box approach to the activity, from drum corps show designs all the way to handling business ventures. They've really figured out how to make the activity more than just a summer competitive marching band
Tobias
BD Inc. is in their groove. This is certainly the time to expand. Their brand is very well respected in the arts. Great for recruitment, fundraising on different levels..
