Curiouser and curiouser. Going on early in a big show knocks Genesis's score for a loop, while 7th Regiment and Spartans, after thirteen days off, both see their score increase by the exact same amount. Stentors debuts; if their score holds up during the O.C. tour, they'll make Finals. Jubal, underscored in my view, is also being judged on separate sheets (though the same scale) presumably because they don't meet DCI's member age requirements.

The Open Class tour kicked off in St. Louis, where Vanguard Cadets, gaining less than two points after ten days, nonetheless held off all challengers to retain their spot on the top of the list. All corps improved, Racine the most. And we learned that Coastal Surge has ceased operations, just before they were to start their season.

At last, every DCI corps has debuted, leaving only the two late-announced international corps who will join the throng at O.C. Prelims in just ten days. Best wishes to Heat Wave, who had their first ever competition tonight and will have their final contest for this season tomorrow at Atlanta.

I caught about two minutes of Music City on the Murfreesboro stream, and they're looking quite good.

The big shoe waiting to drop is Blue Devils B, who haven't been season for twelve days, which has therefore pushed their rank down to a nearly unimaginable sixth. Ware to everyone else at Hamilton tomorrow, I'd guess.

Updated for Waukesha, where all scores went up, and Cedar Rapids, where the top scores went down. Nonetheless, SCVC holds the top spot, routing Genesis in all but one subcaption: so Genesis falls behind Legends for now (tomorrow they meet up in Kalamazoo). BDB moves back up to second, but does not take all captions in Waukesha, being second in Guard (won by Spartans; it's their usual area of strength) and fourth in Brass. Let that sink in. 7th Regiment took that caption, followed by Legends and Spartans. The biggest gain was posted by River City Rhythm in Cedar Rapids, going up more than twelve points in their first show in sixteen days. That's puts them neck and neck with Colt Cadets and Raiders and thus likely to make O.C. Finals. But Stentors are only three points behind that pack, and a week is a long time in Open Class.
