KeithHall
Watch a corps show and say..."What was THAT?" What corps and when?
Northern Thunder
I can remember watching some of the lower finishing corps at the U.S.Open in the early '70s, and trying to guess what music they were playing.
KeithHall
That was a show in 1972 I thought the same thing....maybe it was Iron Brigade?
Northern Thunder
Iron Brigade was there in '73. For me (and for my cousin who was at the show with me) it was the 1972 Buccaneers from Florida. They were last place in class 'A' in '72 by a HUGE margin. The Montrose (PA) Ambassadors were 28th place with a score of 43.10........ but the Buccaneers were 29th place with a score of 27.95. That was one L....O....N....G show. Those kids must have been pretty young.
KeithHall
We competed against the Ambassadors a lot in 1971. I think they were called The Ascots prior to 1970. I think they wore green uni's too.
Northern Thunder
I believe the Ambassadors had a young lady DM in '72, who was very impressive with such a small (young) corps.

Northern Thunder
Yes an African-American woman. She was gorgeous! Yes. There were some outstanding female drum majors in the early 70s..... Vicki Drummond--Blue Rock & Terry McCormick--Marquis are two that come to mind. elphaba01
"Back to the Sixties"; St Kevin's Emerald Knights had a GREAT female concert DM in the early 1960's. Her name was Barbara Bergdoll. Her brother "Buzzy" Bergdoll was their great French Horn soloist, and her Dad, Frank "Buddy" Bergdoll was St Kevin's horn instructor and music arranger.
