Rocketman
How could you not include the ever so successful merger of the Sharpsburg Cadets and the Sharpsville Blue Sabers in 1975? 😁

It was a merger of several Boston area corps, including the Danvers Blue Angels, Immaculate Conception Reveries (successor to the 27th Lancers) and Beverly Cardinals. They were briefly successful, making DCI finals 1978-80, placing as high as 9th. They fell out of finals by a small margin in 1981 and were gone after 1982. They were noted for their drum line, which was called the "Chrome Wall." Under Dave Vose, they were a pioneer in percussion education, doing winter percussion ensembles of non-field material before that became popular. They were a fan favorite, with tunes such as "This Masquerade" and "Sir Duke." They exist to this day as an alumni corps. Pretty accurate except for one thing......the I.C. Reveries were not the 'successor" to the 27th Lancers. It's the other way around. 27 was born out of the Reveries. Some of our distinguished Lancer alums can give the full story.

Some questions.....Wasn't George Bonifiglio the director of the Reveries at one time? I heard the story of the 27th Lancers start in George B's living room. It looks as though 27th had their first competitive season in 1968, and had pretty solid success right out of the gate. Here is what I did not know. Though the Lancers certainly had many former Reveries, the Reveries did not fold up right away after 27th came to be.....in fact, I see contests in 1974 where both corps competed against each other. Also, I do not see that the Reveries ever went to DCI Championship prelims.......I could understand Whitewater, but a bit surprised that they chose not to go to Ithaca....I do know in the early DCI days, there were corps, some pretty highly ranked, who chose not to go to DCI championships, and some chose not to do any DCI shows at all. I'm going to assume that they were not happy with the new organization.....and/or also, perhaps did not wish to tour at the level that the midwest and west corps already were. The Reveries did go to DCI East, though......the fact that it was in Mass. was likely a factor. Also, both the Reveries and 27th were from Revere.
