KeithHall
As we look back to the beginnings of DCI we have lost so money corps. The show sponsors have stopped holding shows due to cost per drum corps. Blue Devils, Santa Clara Vanguard, Troopers had to fold because money wasn't coming in to help support them. DCI sought out corporations to sponsor regional shows and they too pulled out. Cavaliers folded in 2011. It was up to last years champions, Spirit of Cocoa Cola to carry on the tradition of drum corps along with the other 17 corps that make up DCI North America. It was announced at the DCI meeting that 4 of the 17 corps will disband for the 2031 season. High School Marching Band competitions have been brought into the public spotlight due to ESPN. Every Saturday is a competiton from a different region in the U.S. "Students are allowed to have a life outside of band as most bands rehearse 2-3 nights a week and then travel to a Saturday contest, just like what was done prior to DCI," said a leader in the Marching Band Circuit from New Jersey. Corporations would rather spend money on a school than on independant groups. Will DCI be able to continue with just 14 corps in North American? with over 850 High School Marching Bands competing it would be hard for DCI to compete. Stay tuned for the further saga of the end of drum and bugle corps PS This is just fiction, and not my beliefs!!!!
P-tizzle
How come now six months later someone finally responds to this thread? Nice story dude.
huskerman15
It's like 1984, The Handmaid's Tale, and A Brave New World all tied together, in drum corps form!! Well, not really. That was scary. But I would like to see the Spirit of Coca Cola's uniform. They'd be refreshing.

sburstall
Only 14 left? I thought all had folded except for the YEA Northeastern Cadets, the Midwest Cavaliers and the California Vanguard/Blue Devils.
