Goldsmith1210
I love 77 Garfield, top to bottom. What a balls out show. The amen at the end is awesome. Just a random comment.
Dave
Ironically, the big jazz resolution at the end of Bridgemen 77 was intended as a mockery of that vocalization.

bluecoats88
Actually there was a tie for 12th in prelims so Garfield would have been in finals regardless of the DQ
mobrien
Ah, yes that hotpants and shako combination were tearing up the fashion world in the 70s...:P
BennyBassDrum
Boy oh <**> Boy-talk about trying to incite a riot! The title of this thread should REALLY be changed! Edited December 23, 2003 by BennyBassDrum
Goldsmith1210
I think DCI orchestrated the 12 place tie because they knew the Bridgemen would be DQ'ed, and they would still have a top 12 that competed in finals. How would you feel if you were the 13th place corps after prelims, and after finals they only had a top 11. I would be a little ticked, especially since DCI was planning on it before championships anyway. I could be way off base, considering I wasn't even alive in 1977, but just my $.02. kiltiesdrumguy
I can say this about Garfield in 1977..without a doubt they had to have the worst drumline ever to make finals, add to that the fact that the best drumline didn't even make finals... Goldsmith1210
I don't know, the 80 Guardsmen drum line was pretty bad too.
