Evan Posted January 19, 2004 Share Posted January 19, 2004 OK, can someone please help me. Im familiar with the burton grip, but I need tips on using it while playing jazz Vibes. I would like to know how they are numbered (1,2,3,4 or 4,3,2,1), and which 2 to use for 2 mallet playing. I've seen both insides played for 2 mallets runs, and ive seen one inner, and one outer for 2 mallet playing. Which is right?! I have auditions for my school Jazz ensemble tuesday, I have all the audition stuff down, but part of the audition is playing in groups of fours for the rhythm section, I wanna do 4 malet stuff, and knowing how to properly use Burton is esential. gbass598 Posted January 20, 2004 Share Posted January 20, 2004 I think everyone has their own way but I was taught to use the inside mallet on the left hand and the outside mallet on the right hand for playing.
