ffernbus3
The Argonne Rebels thread got me to wondering about female horn instructors in general. We hear about Sandra Opie mainly, but what about the rest? For the sake of clarity let's limit this to the MAIN brass instructor as opposed to just a female brass tech. What the heck! If your female brass tech should get credit, too, here's the time and place! RON HOUSLEY
raphael18
I think the brass caption at 'canos this year is a woman PR's got some ladies on brass staff too Edited February 27, 2004 by raphael18
TerriDitt57
Sandra was/is the QUEEN. I met her in 1977, she said that mouthpiece is no good for you, and made a recommendation. You have NO idea, Ron, how fast I ran to my local music store and bought that mouthpiece Sandra referred to me. :)
daniel2e
Sue Samuels was brass caption head at Carolina Crown for at least two years (1999 and 2000 for sure).

elphaba01
"Noteable" Female Bugle Instructors: I believe Barbara Maroney taught for some time after she aged out of the Garfield Cadets. Sue Samuels also taught the Crossmen in the late 1990s. Sandra Opie is indeed the "Queen" of female instructor/judges. Elphaba
surfthearc
Sue Samuels was brass caption head at Carolina Crown for at least two years (1999 and 2000 for sure). She actually was in charge of Crossmen '99.

Becky
Barbara Maroney was brass caption head of the Blue Knights in 1992. I know of numerous brass techs that were female, if you'd like that list. Becky Parker Edited March 5, 2004 by Becky
