Court of Honor Performs to a HUGE crowd

Court of Honor Rocks at Stone Mountain Park

Saturday, May 29th Court of Honor Drum and Bugle Corps "rocked" the crowd at Georgia's Stone Mountain Park with its first performance of the season. They played three 30 minute sets to a crowd that grew to completely overtake the spectator area in front of the historically significant carving. Each set consisted of some of the corps' show music from Seussical the Musical, as well as patriotic tunes to mark the Memorial Day weekend with importance.

It was a moving tribute, and had significance in more than one way for the corps.

There were a few important firsts:

1. First time wearing our new Fruhauf uniforms

2. First time performing using our new King horns.

3. First time performing using our new Pearl front ensemble

4. Largest audience we've performed for in the corps history

5. First time performing our show music for an "outside" audience.

The performance took place in the middle of the corps' four day Memorial Day rehearsal camp and was a great change of pace from the hard work members are putting in as they finalize their competitive show for this season. Corps Executive Director, Marc Kaufman, added "This is a GREAT lead-in to our "all days" coming up. Now that they have had a taste of performing in front of a large audience they are even more motivated to maximize our rehearsal time and put an effective and entertaining show on the field."

After the last performance, the corps assembled en masse in front of the stone carving to watch a laser show especially created for the Memorial Day crowd. There is definitely a change that happens to a corps when they perform together and that was very evident tonight. Friendships, camaraderie, the "We're in this together" bond that makes Drum Corps a unique activity…it was all there.
