One of my drum instructors was in Dutch Boy's snare line...Their motto was "Dutch Boy, we come in 13th so you don't have to."

That is absolutely true! lol.. Dutch Boy does hold the record for most times in 13th.

It'll be hard to get a good read on this one since so many of these corps were gone before the average DCP reader was born. But...

Blue Stars 80. We drew the death spot in prelims, performing last at 4pm after BD. It was about 104 degrees on the field in Birmingham. The mallet instruments were so out of tune from the heat that I never even wanted to buy the record because it sounded like poop. Didn't stand a chance.

I'd vote Crossmen a close second for taking 13th more than once.

Honorable mention, Watkins Glen Squires. A great little corps that never quite broke through.

Y'know...that would make an interesting CD...

a collection of the 13th place corps. Maybe "the TOP 12 13th's"

(that would make it a 2 CD set!)

let's see..... the 12 highest scoring 13th's?

the TOP 12 highest GE 13th's.

ok i'm overthinking...

Even though I voted for Suncoast Sound, now that I think about it I must admit that out of all the thirteenth place corps of my era my vote should have gone to the 1979 Crossmen. IMHO you guys were screwed royally that year.

The judges really @#&$*! that one up. <**>
