The 5-Time DCA World Champions and penultimate percussion powerhouse is looking to fill 8 snares, 4 tenors, 5 bass, and 4 cymbals, as well as 11-15 in the pit for 2006. We're part way there, and enjoying our most successful winter in the past 5 seasons. This year is starting to shape up, and we're wondering... will you be a part of it? Well...will ya?

The 5-Time DCA World Champions and penultimate percussion powerhouse...

I think you might want to word that differently. Being next to last in percussion isn't something most people would brag about. ;-)

Main Entry: pen·ul·ti·mate

Pronunciation: pi-'n&l-t&-m&t

Function: adjective

1 : next to the last <the penultimate chapter of a book>

2 : of or relating to a penult <a penultimate accent>

- pen·ul·ti·mate·ly adverb

...maybe "perennial percussion powerhouse"?

Nope. DCA judging can put down on paper whatever they like. Take a listen to last season. I was proud of that. Coming from nothing in June to playing better than most lines did last season is something I am proud of....scores are just numbers on pages. Check out: www.myspace.com\123brigs for a taste of what last years drum line really sounded like.

and by nothing, he really does mean nothing.

The drum line was definitely struggling last Winter/Spring. Our recruiters did their thing and the staff did an amazing job. They're proud of what they did Finals night. and they should be.

We all are. First, Fourth, or 72nd place.

Pssst...I think the poster's point was not the actual placement from last summer. Rather he's being fussy about Perna's use of the word penultimate. Of course I know better than to quibble with Chris about the use of the english language, him being a lit major and all ;) but I'm assuming he meant definition #2 - of or relating to a penult <a penultimate accent> instead of "next to last".

Good luck Chris, I'm sure you are going to have another great line this season when all is said and done!

and nor do they matter! that's our point! LOL

Exactly. Sorry if that was misunderstood! (I don't even know what the placements & scores were.)

Tom Case, JR. is teching the cymbal line, and we are using the Hannum approach.

Come out to the next camp if you are interested.

You tell big man TC that Steve said hi. I helped him out when he was the cymbal tech at Surf. I was the cymbal tech for Bucs the past 3 seasons. Good luck, always love seeing more cymbal lines out there. How's the interest for lids so far?
