Baumer
I know this is not quite on topic, but I couldn't find a better topic to ask this question in. I have been writing drill for high scholl band for four years and teaching trumpets. I have been asked to teach beginner trumpet lessons and I curious if anyone out there knows of and good books that have a continued program that works up to the high school level. Please let me know. Are these "beginners" high school age or kids in elementary school? Also, are you a trumpet player yourself? If you're not then I'd reccomend sending them to a professional player/teacher in the area. They should know best how to take someone thru the different levels, etc. My book reccomendations would be these. "Physical Approach to Elementary Brass Playing"--Claude Gordon "Harold Mitchel on Trumpet" Book I" Phil pro player/teacher since 1983 playing since 1967
StarOrg
"Daily Drills and Technical Studies" by Max Schlossberg Very good....can you say long tones....
KeithHall
Depending on their level.....Schlossberg's Dailey Drills, Arban's (no time like the present), Rubanks Method Books are good. Also Carmine Caruso's Brass Calesthetics.

Also Carmine Caruso's Brass Calesthetics. I quite agree, "depending on their level", which is why I asked if these are little kids or teens or?? In my previous post. I suggested the ones I did based on if they're truly "beginners" and haven't played before. I'm still trying to figure out Caruso tho. I mean, he was a sax player, heh. b**bs
