Best chord of all time?

Recommended Posts

Cavaliers 2002. Not really just one chord, but my favorite part none the less. It's in the ballad, at 4:20-4:26 on the CD.

It sounds simply perfect. I remember hear that live, and it seemed like the whole stadium was resonating with it. By far one of my favorite drum corps moments.

the Gb Maj 7 chord from Star '93 8:03 - 8:07..

Perfection.

:tic:

definitely my two favorite chords.

James, is that the big chord after the really LOUD percussion part in the show? Where the hornline is nearly dwarfed by the sound of the pit?

If that's it, you picked a goodie!

It blows my mind that nobody has mentioned this yet...

Spirit of Atlanta 1980 - The last chord of "Georgia"

Spirit of Atlanta 1980 - The last chord of "Let It Be Me"

Kids, just ask your directors and staff? MOST experts will tell you that it has never been any better than that.

Sorry, I don't have the "time of the chords" but the Georgia chord is in the first big hit and the Let It Be Me chord is the last chord of the show.

In a CLOSE 3rd...

Blue Devils 1988 - The last chord of "Happy Days Are Here Again". A very similar type of intro (in form) as Jim Ott's arrangement of Georgia with a chord that I've heard many experts say reached a level that was very close to that of Spirit 1980!

In a close 4th...

Blue Devils 1996 opening hit - Actually more of a "line" than a "chord" but still worthy to be mentioned.

Star '90 just before the drum break. Short, powerful, and stacked. I don't know much about music theory but that chord was so full and meaty (those are music theory terms right).

AHHHH YESSS! THAT ONE TOO!!! b**bs

Check out the stinger at the end of BD '93's opener - 2:56.

One more before I go to class!

9:43 - 9:49, BD '97. One of my favorite mellophone moments in DCI history, and I love the angle that the DVD provides. You can see sops and contras wailing, and the drumline hyping on the ending of the song.

One of my favorites that I like to rewind a few times while watching the show is Vanguard '95...at 3:09. It's so friggin' intense and well controlled at the same time...I can't listen to it just once

On my recording (finals...), 3:09 is in the middle of the sops and mellos trading off some runs.
