Dominath
I'm very willing to vote myself as at least being in the top 3. Haha. Oh, and yes to whoever mentioned the Cavies DM this past year. Edited January 20, 2007 by Dominath
silvertrombone
It was my assumption he was being facetious.... :P Oh and thats like the second time in about 10 minutes I've used the word 'facetious' in a post. :sshh: Wild, is that photo in your signature line the '93 or '94 crab? I'm guessing '93--grass is too nice to be Foxboro. And wasn't it Jackson that used the messed up DCI logo? If you've got '94's let me know. And we can settle this guy/girl thing real quick--who started this thread? Guy? Then anything goes. Girl? Then take that into mind when answering--kind of a different question, ya know? silvertrombone
It's coming along well. It's a transcription of Joseph Schwantner's "New Morning for the World," originally written for Orchestra and Narrator. My transcription is for Wind Orchestra and Narrator. If you're familiar with Schwantner's textures and notational practices, you are probably aware of how difficult an endeavor this is. I'm currently entering the wind and percussion parts first, then I will go back and transcribe the string parts and make adjustments to the winds/percussion as I go. I have entered 52 of 64 pages thus far, so I am in good shape. Some of his notations are just so darned difficult to replicate on Finale. In addition to that I will be doing a written component, consisting of a study of Schwantner's works for winds, but...I'll probably wait until I am done or mostly done with the transcription to tackle that full-on. I've got a lot of really good material for it already gathered, though, so that portion of it is done. I hope to be finished with it sometime in May or June, and have my Ph.D. by the time I leave here late June or July. Oh, Tsar Nicholas--sorry so slow. Took me a while to figure out who 'Tsar' was. I have a friend in Austin who is a composer/arranger who has a custom software system that he raves about. Let me know if you'd like to be put in touch with him--he loves hearing from young(er) men. Especially those with an interest in music composition/arranging.

I've waited for months to see my name come up, but NOOOOOOOO. Once you've had a Boo, you'll never go back. Boo! Talkin dirty in front of all the kids...really now! What would all the old geezers from the 70's who read you on dci.org say? :P
