bartyount
In Bluecoats, a silver plated penny minted in the current year and hung on a blue shoestring is given to members at the end of each season. I was in the corps when the tradition started in 92, but I never heard who's idea it was. Anyone of you fellow Bluecoats vets know?

BTW, it's "Blue Coats", or "Blue-Coats". :)
mikietuba
Try again, it is BLUECOATS all one word.
BlooooContra
It started in 92 in front of the Normal, IL stadium. Sly Sybilski (spelling?), if I remember correctly, was the driving force behind the idea while he was with the Bluecoats. Not sure how long he was around. bartyount
Try again, it is BLUECOATS all one word. Actually it's only "BLUECOATS" if you are screaming it. Otherwise it's just "Bluecoats". :P

KFanti
I've always wanted my pennies from 83,84,85,86,87,88 I think I should get a nickel too, right? That's a tradition that began after my time - but it would mean a lot to have them.
JayM
Here to confirm that it was indeed Sly Sybilski (current Cavaliers Visual Caption Head) who started it.
bigwally8891
Yes Sly was the driving force behind the pennies when it finally took hold in the summer of '92. But the year before the drum major Chip Kolesar along with a few others like Jeff Wise were the actual masterminds behind the entire idea. bartyount
It started in 92 in front of the Normal, IL stadium. Wow. You have a better memory than I do - and you weren't even there! :P But now that you mention it, I do recall it being in Normal.
