Tuba Weight?

can someone tell me how mucha tuba/contra w/e you wanna call them weighs so i can get the right size bag of dog food and start working out?

The 4 valve tubas weight about 26 pounds... thats probably the max you will find in marching tubas.

Average tuba weighs between 250 and 300 pounds, not including the beer belly.

Oh, you meant the INSTRUMENT! :P

If I remember correctly, the horn we have at BD (Dynasty 5/4 BBb 4v) is listed as 29lbs, and I believe that is currently the heaviest and largest horn in production.

It will certainly make a man out of you.

Thought the Dynastys were only 26 pounds?

I know for a fact that the 5/4 Dynasty 4 valve contra bass in G is 29 pounds. I can't imagine the BBb making much of a difference. I play the 4/4 Yamaha 3 valve G/BBb convertible and that weighs in a 25 pounds. Funny how another inch of bell and an extra valve & piston can add about 4-5 pounds.
