Jim Anello
According to the Scouts' web page, a Matt Gregg has been named as Program Coordiinator. Would anybody please share any background information on Matt?
bawker
...this him? : http://www.uwplatt.edu/finearts/music/GreggMatthew.htm Prior to his work in Oconomowoc, he earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin. At both institutions, Matthew was honored academically and remains a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. He has also served as the Director of Bands at Cambridge High School and Nikolay Middle School. His performance and instructional experience extends to the Drum & Bugle Corps circuit where he was a performer and soloist with the Madison Scouts from 1988-1994 and a brass instructor from 1995-2003. He has also been a brass instructor and designer for Capital Sound Drum & Bugle Corps and served as the Corps Director from 2001-2002. In 2002, Matthew won the Drum Corps International Division II Director of the Year award. His teaching experience has allowed him the opportunity to travel across the United States and abroad as an instructor, adjudicator and clinician. He has a number of musical arrangements and compositions to his credit including works for both marching and concert band. Mr. Gregg has also earned a number of credits as a horn player. He is currently a member of the Rountree Ensemble, a professional chamber group, and does some freelance playing in the Madison area. He has won several competitions, scholarships and awards for instrumental performance including six consecutive years as a Drum Corps International Solo & Ensemble Champion. He has played principal horn in the UW-Milwaukee, UW-Madison and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Honors Wind Ensembles. Some of his other credits include playing the world premiere of a brass quintet and a full stage musical. Sounds good to me...he marched some great years, and was with the brass staff during some nice ones, too. :)

vferrera
He was with the MSARP as a member/instructor. Played mellophone. Had the mello solo in Remembrance. Did the Malaguena arrangement. Ran some brass rehearsals. Solid guy.

Jim Anello
Thanks, Bawker. I should have googled on Matthew instead of Matt.
TchMuzk
Matt is OUTSTANDING. I don't know the new director, but with Jeff Spanos and Matt Gregg, there's little possibility this won't be superb! Its a great time to be a Madison Scout! MYNWA
Lancerlady
Is this the guy who played the mellophone solo in 88? One of my favorites of all time? Edited October 14, 2006 by Lancerlady
toddschultz
Well with all this talk about all the great decisions that many corps are making, I could not think of a better set of decisions than that of hiring Spanos, Dunton, and now Matt Gregg. I will say it again...if you are a vet, and you have years left MARCH, if you are a male between 16-22 and are interested in the Madison Scouts, AUDITION, this is a great addition to their staff and a truely remarkable human being!!! Great job on this decision!
