Michael Boo
Remembering Jim Ott's Music Dr. Dave S. Knowlton contributed this story on the power of drum corps to change the lives of those in the stands. His first drum corps show was the one in Memphis where Spirit of Atlanta performed on the day of the tragic passing of Jim Ott. Although he didn't know anything about Jim, he sensed the magnitude of what had happened from those in the stands and was forever changed by the experience of being in the audience that day. oldsoprano
Thanks to both of you, from someone who was also in the crowd, standing on the front sideline that night in Memphis. A recent age-out, I was driving the other Spirit van the night of the accident. Dr. Knowlton did a superb job of capturing the emotions of that evening.
