brassomaniac
Looks like a big group for Brooklyn I&E this month . - only room for a few more experienced players who could get up to speed quick (on one tune ) We WILL be carrying extra players for local performances this summer... but, remember that "official" mini-corps and I&E performances will have a limited number of spots. So... get on board now! Edited February 1, 2007 by brassomaniac

brassomaniac
next Wednesday, 2/14, will be the LAST CHANCE for new players to join us for the Brooklyn contest. We can use up to 24 brass at this event, so we can take a few more players with us. AND, we plan to use up to 28 brass for local gigs, but the mini-corps spots (only 21) are filling up, so ... brassomaniac
We've had a number of inquiries, recently, about the specific openings and requirements for Capital Brass! Our mini-corps spots (only 21) are nearly full, but we WILL have some scheduling conflicts, and will need players to fill in. AND we're also accepting about 12 additional players who only want to do local events, where we'll be using a larger corps. Here's where we're at today: We can still take a couple of bari's and a couple of trumpets. Trumpet parts are all tasty from 1st right thru 3rd. Some intermediate technical ability, good control of intonation at all volume levels, and a fair range are required. Baritone parts are within a reasonable range and the positions mostly require some reading (and listening) skills and good intonation. We have 4 very good mellophone players now. But we have additional horns available. If you feel that you are an exceptional mellophone player, we would consider you. Our mellophone parts are for players who have a good ear, advanced technical ability, sight-reading skills, and are up to a challenge. We also have 4 tuba players on board, but with schedule conflicts (and you can never have too many tubas), we would consider adding another. We have one more nice marching tuba available. Parts are not difficult, and the main requirement is a committment to work hard at perfecting them. If you'd like to play alongside one of the VERY BEST tubists in the Capital District, this is a unique opportunity to do so. Whichever section you choose, you can be assured that you'll be very proud to be a part of it. We also have two percussionists and we're ready to begin building a larger section, and are looking for a few experienced players. Later this year, we'll also be adding a guard. We have some members with extensive experience already signed up. Our rehearsals do not have an intense atmosphere. We get right to work and do so for the full 2 hours. But, we're there to have fun with the music, and we don't lose sight of that. We have a bunch of GREAT people, and, beyond the music skills, we're looking for a few more great people to fit in with them. Bounce back to me with any questions. brassomaniac
Thanks for pointing out that we needed to be more specific about our openings. Hope the previous post helps to clarify our needs. Edited February 13, 2007 by brassomaniac
