rzeilinger
HI everyone, I hope this note finds you well. The people who started Impulse were and still are Velvet Knights Alumni. Impulse was created to provide a unique brand of drum corps to the youth of our surrounding communities and to carry on the style, and spirit of (but not represent) the Velvet Knights and the Bridgemen, hence the yellow and black color scheme with a baseball cap. This list of VK alumni are or were either founders, board members, staff and support volunteers, who have or are still helping Impulse in various capacities over the years... Jack Bevins, Charlie Groh, Zig Kanstul Jr, Garry Parker, Bill Park, Corkie Keys, Bill Hassing, Sarah Sapien, Peggy White Shaw, Terry Verdegem, Karen Gaertner, Dan Zeilinger, Ron Zeilinger, Dr Tim Benge, Dr J David Meade, Ray Santos, Dr Tamara Trank, Charles Hargett, Ryan H Turner, Thom Willett, Bill Price, Douglas McKenna, John Whatley, Al Peralta, Luis Garcia, Troy Emmons, Rich "huck" Huang, Rich Hinshaw, Alice Hays, Matt Gagnier, Vince Stewart, Eric Morese, Dave Willis, Keith Brady, Mike Lopez, Jon Shellenbarger, David Campbell, Dee Dee Novak, Arwen Hernandez, Joe "Spam" Miller, Javy Galindo, Larry Dano, Scott Suyama, Monica Falkowitz. If there was any other VK alumni that contributed to our 9 years of success, I apologize for missing you. There are also supporters who represent the Anaheim Kingsmen, Blue Stars, Sacramento Freelancers, Santa Clara Vanguard, Blue Devils, Cadets (garfield) Phantom Regiment, Cavaliers, Spirit of Atlanta (JSU Spirit now) Osage Precisionnaires among many other corps and units too numerous to mention. I am asking the Entire Drum Corps Community as well as VK Alumni, to take this opportunity to help Impulse this season. Impulse has been since it's first year in 1999, an "All Volunteer Organization". Which literally means, no staff member has ever been paid for their time and dedication to this Drum Corps and to our members. Over 90% of Impulse's operating budget is from member fees which makes it a challenge to travel to the east coast and midwest each summer for championships, but WE DO IT! (Thank goodness we get a break this one year) Which is why we need to ask the Drum Corps Nation to help. Since 2004 Impulse has owned only 6 trumpets. Our members in the "soprano" section have had to use their own instruments over the last 4 years since we went Bb. We have an opportunity to purchase 14 additional instruments which will require us to raise an additional $9,000 - $10,000. If you could find it in your heart to help us with this fundraising campaign, it would benefit the all the great kids who are and will be members of Impulse, the 2006 DCI Div III world champion. We are only asking for a $25 "minimum" donation. ( you can donate more if it is comfortable for you) You can give with a check, money order or even with a credit card via our paypal link on our website at http://www.impulseyoutharts.org. If you pay with paypal, please increase your donation by 4% for processing fees. We will send you a receipt with our tax ID number so you can report it as a donation. Your name will also appear on our patrons page for 2007, and for gifdts of $100 or more, we will offer you complimentary tickets to our home show on July 14th. Please make your donation out to "Impulse" In the note field please indicate "2007 trumpet campaign" Mail it to: Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps PO Box 5369 Buena Park,CA. 90622 Thank you for supporting our kids and the activity. vkguy
Why would you buy that old of a instrument, for that much money, when you could buy a brand new instrument for the same price? Didn't Kanstul help start the Velvet Knights, which all of these alumni marched? They're still making horns.
stylites
Didn't Kanstul help start the Velvet Knights, which all of these alumni marched? They're still making horns. And they are STILL making horns for the Velvet Knights. Brand new this year. HIGHLY recommended.
