  1. probably because the way people word their views of DCA ( not you) comes off as, frankly, insulting. I like and dislike things in both circuits, but it's all in how you deliver the thought, and some of the statements about here about the lack of quality in DCA compared to DCI ( I mean duh, look at the rehearsal schedules) come off as, well, insulting and degrading.
  2. wow you act like I never give any corps props. Funny, I still count Empire 97 as one of the greatest shows of all time, either circuit
  3. how is it, me, a guy who has been around both circuits as far back as i can remember, can go to both and enjoy both for what they are, and not get hung on one being so technically superior over the other?
  4. Because to some people, the end all be all is being at that championship site. yet for decades drum corps flourished with MOST corps never going to a World or Nationals competition. I'd say probably over half went to a State final.
  5. great interview, and Brandt says some great things about his fears for the activity
  6. I'm glad to see Star doesn't go the 20 and 1 route...and their sound is fabulous
  7. they probably go with what makes the cut Scott, or what they have funding/equipment for. The Marines never have an issue arranging for 4 basses, and in fact, their writing is usually awesome. With Navy, I have seen the size fluctuate, usually based on how many people audition
  8. flag on the play. illegal use of logic and reason, used many times on here before and ignored. 15 yards, loss of spot in Rochester
  9. I miss Ma and Pa Mowbray. They still loved me despite watching me while Dad rehearsed with the Rebels
  10. just as there are DCI corps not coming out this year. to many people, if you don't go out to finals, then it's worthless....and that is why often times their corps fails.
  11. really anything more than Open and A class dilutes the product. it's good where it's at
  12. there is more to each circuit than just finalists tho. and for both circuits, in this economic crunch, any corps lost, finalist or not is an issue
  13. ok...so 30 gets passed...and a corps is stuck at 29. there is no win win situation. It goes back to a lot of discussion we've had with Shadow on here....if you can't get 35 people, then really, your corps needs to do more work to get membership and get the organization going forward. because if you change it to 30, someone will cry "why not 25". You can't please people all of the time, so you have to make a rule and stick to it, and I think 35 is the way to go. If you can't get that many people, then you need to refocus on how to make your organization sound
  14. Gut's in charge. I'm not sure I ever saw you play outside of ensemble rehearsal
  15. agreed...and it's happening regardless of what genre of music the corps plays
