Just Another Sop
As you all know SoCal Dream started this season with plans to attend Championships this weekend. When the decision was made not to attend, we were still going to do a mini corps, but the financial situation hit many of our members and we were unable to have complete instrumentation so we put that aside. With all of the plans that were made, a few members had already purchased airline tickets for the trip. Since they already bought tickets, they are still going, but really wanted to perform. They decided to look and see if there was a mini corps that might allow a couple more performers that would only be able to rehearse with them in Rochester. Gulf Coast Sound stepped up and offered our members a place to perform and sent them music to practice. Thank you to the staff and members of Gulf Coast Sound for welcoming our wayward members into your group. Good luck and have a great Championships experience! We missed them this year at DCA South shows... but look forward to seeing them in Rochester, with their new additions !

84BDsop
I'm not surprised....GCS loaned us their podium in 04 -- ungodly wobbly as it was, I appreciated it! In 06 they came to watch us at practice on finals day, and then did a standstill of their program...to record it, but they also had us as an appreciative audience. Best moment....midway through the taping, and a train goes by, blasting it's horn. Does teh DM stop? NOPE!! She and teh corps kept right on through to the end! 'Course, that meant another run thru...like that was a bad thing?? I think one of their members joined our A squad for finals that night, as well. nukeme70
Thanks for all the nice thoughts - it's definitely appreciated! We're going up there with our 3 corps goals in mind - Entertain ourselves, entertain the crowd, and maybe impress the judges. Stick around after Freelancers, we're pretty sure you'll enjoy the show! The management team left this morning around 4:00am for the trek to Rachacha - with a stayover in OH, they'll be pulling into town around 2:00pm Thursday - I'll make sure they see this before it gets buried in all the DCA coverage. Looking forward to the weekend, and meeting up with our new hornline members!
