3rd Glasgow BB Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I read (with interest) in the DCA - All-Age - Alumni Corps Discussion forum that Madonna once marched with The Bridgemen..... before the rest of the world had ever heard of her. I also found several non drum corps websites via google that say the same thing. Does anyone know if this is true or does it come from the land of make believe? Quote
Northern Thunder Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) She didn't march with THE Bridgemen (Bayonne, NJ). Several of her own public relations bios mentioned marching with the Bridgemen drum corps, but it NEVER said she marched with the Bayonne Bridgemen Drum & Bugle Corps. (These bios were first discovered by the drum corps public about 8 or 9 years ago.) Modern drum corps fans, seeing the Bridgemen drum corps name naturally assumed it was the Bayone Bridgemen. Far more likely is the fact that it was a drum (no bugles) corps with twirlers. Madonna was a baton twirler in her early years. There were several units in the state of Michigan (Madonna's home state) called the Bridgemen, including a drum & bugle corps from 50 miles from where Madonna grew up. No, she didn't marched with the famous Bridgemen, but it's possible she was involved with a drum corps (either with, or without bugles) called the Bridgemen in Michigan. JimF-LowBari Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) Just for craps and gigles I googled..... interesting... There is a town called Bridgman, MI (notice no 'E') - so who knows http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridgman,_Michigan Edited March 16, 2010 by JimF-3rdBari Quote
DCIHasBeen Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 No, Madonna didn't march with us ... But Lady Gaga did. Quote
Northern Thunder Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) Bridgman, MI did indeed have a drum & bugle corps back in the early 1970s, but I ruled that one out, since Bridgman is located more than 200 miles from where Madonna lived at the time. LOL, didn't know where she lived cuz never really cared.... So what was the name of the Bridgman corps? You can tell what' more important to me... Hades, didn't even know Kate Gosslin (aka Jon + Kate makes ya wanna puke) worked a few towns over from me in Hershey. Edited March 16, 2010 by JimF-3rdBari Quote
Northern Thunder Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Strangely enough, the corps was simply known as the Bridgman Drum & Bugle Corps. Quote
