Jeff Ream Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 can anyone please A) update the status of 490 and B) tell me what 15/99 is like above Williamsport. Thanks Quote
dbriggs Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 AFAIK (don't travel that section often), the 490 project is done. altho', with the stimulus thing, everything getting repaved this summer. of course, work will be halted for the holiday weekend on a side note, Jefferson Rd is being completely redone this summer; extra lanes added to both sides, and medians going in in the middle. but, as I work in the area, I can attest that traffic has kept moving there all during construction, with the only thing being lanes shifted from side to side as they finish one part and move to the next and for those coming I90 (NYS T-way) from east, still have that big project just west of Syracuse. traffic shifted over to the other side for all of between ex 39-40. for those coming I81 to I90, I wouldn't advise the corner-cutting move of using 690, cuz that goes right by the NY State Fair, which is going on Quote
Spartans87 Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I did a search on map quest (they now have a traffic update available) and it indicated repaving in a small section and that it was minimal impact. Thats the best I could do. Safe travels!! Quote
AlbionNY Drum Line Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) 490 East Bound, east of the city is a pain in my ### but that shouldn't effect too much since the stadium in on the west side :) Edited September 2, 2010 by AlbionNY Drum Line Quote
Matt Billock Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Just finished driving 490 - smooth sailing coming from the west. Quote
Jeff Ream Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 awesome and thanks! anyone who came down to Reading, have any words on 15 above Williamsport? Quote
Golde Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 one place on the 490 eastbound as you approach from the west that nothing is mentioned is the exit for the stadium(s) that are clearly marked (exit 12 or 13?) is that Broad Street is closed down to one way southbound from the construction project. This means that you will not be able to make a left from Allen St onto Broad St towards the stadium! You have the option to exit at Child st. Turn left off the exit on Child and proceed to the second light. Turn right on Jay St. follow that about 1 mile (through a seedy neighborhood) and it will bring you to Broad St right near the stadium and entrance for the equipment truck/staging area. I recommend this route for trucks and buses because the alternative route has some sharp turns(but doable) for big trucks. The alternative route is to exit at the stadium exit as mentioned above and continue across Broad st and stay in the left lane. That will bring you under the 490 overpass and as you pass that you have the option to take the first left on Oak St, which brings you to the back staging area for trucks and buses or continue straight, past frontier field and turn left on North Plymouth Ave and go to the second light and turn left on Smith St which takes you to the backside of the stadium into the beginning of the staging /truck area. I live in the area and travel this everyday in my travels......so.....hope it helps you out! Any questions, drop me a line! Quote

dbriggs Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) depends. you driving? (walkable -prolly 'bout 20 min) if so, where do you want to park? in the lot behind Kodak (3-4 block walk)? or in the lot on the bend of Broad St, just west of the stadium (out past the souvie stands)? edit - actually never mind route would be similar for both State St north to Brown St (just past Kodak bldg). Left. either park in the lot on your right (that's with the walk) or continue on to Broad St and make a right. the closed part is to the left of Brown Edited September 3, 2010 by dbriggs Quote
