  1. Glad you made it through and things are improving. You and Texas have my prayers (Yes Annelle, I pray) and cash (gave to Red Cross this morning). Take care.
  2. I had a great time last night in Massillon! It was an outstanding show and pretty much everyone brought their A game. True, the seating is a little cramped but otherwise it's a great environment with a super receptive crowd. I will definitely put this stop on my tour schedule next year. Significant memory: in order to get a jump start on the exiting pile up, I made my way down before the end of Bluecoats' encore, so I got to experience The Boxer while standing directly in front of the horn cluster. I can die happy.
  3. Sorry, Terri. I mean those who have vehemently lambasted the Cadets for everything they either do or do not do. I believe there are some who would have twisted the comment into something snarky so I wanted to nip it.
  4. BIG reaction to Cadets ending! And for the haters, I mean a positive reaction.
  5. In honor of Crown, I had dinner at Old Carolina Barbeque. in respect of the home corps I wore a Bluecoats shirt and to support the Cadets I say Go Cadets! posted from the DrumScorps app
  6. Thanks. I just got parked in the east lot. Wasn't too bad, but luckily I came in from the east. Looks like coming in from the west had quite a long line of cars and many buses.
  7. Hey, local folks. If I get to the stadium at about 6:30 will parking be difficult?
  8. I'm not usually a fan of guards spinning off-standard equipment but I think these Eye of Horus things are very effective, visually.
  9. I had that happen once last night. I pressed OK and the feed came right back. I'm on Roku Streaming Stick.
  10. True. And in Centerville on Tuesday it appeared they cranked the volume on the sideline input because it was often harsh, unpleasant and unbalanced. One of the more impressive moments was the section 3rdValve mentioned when the ensemble was farther back from the mics. I'm sure some amplification was present but it was hardly noticeable. Actually the nicest horn sound came at the very end when they moved past the sideline and therefore past the mics and there was zero amplification. THAT was the glory moment.
  11. And it sounded GREAT without any discernable amplification; just pure, natural sound.
  12. It appeared to be intentional. They had four large mics on stands set across the front sideline; large ones with big, fuzzy wind covers. I had just seen the corps on Friday in Nashville and did not hear or didn't notice any brass sound coming from speakers other than soloists. I don't know if this was an experiment or what.
  13. Cavaliers had a great run tonight. They've really tightened everything up and are firing on all cylinders. Crowd ate it up. Earlier in the season the hornline was a weak point but they're sounding much cleaner. Guard still has some breaks which they will need to eliminate if they want to challenge for best guard. Now, don't hate me, but here's a bad thing. The micing of the full corps is not good. This is the 4th time I've seen them live and it's never been this noticeable, but tonight it was far too loud. The sound coming out of the speakers was harsh and piercing at times and impossible to balance, since whichever voices happened to be closest came out loudest. Maybe it was because of my seat location but I found it very unpleasant and detracted from both the horn sound and the overall show. Sorry, not hating, just recounting my experience. Still, Cavies win with a huge score!
  14. I love the sound of Blue Stars hornline. It's just lovely. Mellophone are spectacular, chill inducing. Guard has done a ton of cleaning. The book is beastly difficult and it's finally got clarity. Drill is gorge. I love it.
