  1. Caballeroville sounds like a great place, so move to Mankato and join in on the fun. I think the Cabs need to do a show in the Mankato area in honnor of Bob, lets say, around the weekend after DCI sounds good. I believe I could put together a drum corps show and a little party to go along with this event. p.s. Bring the alumni corps as well
  2. 2 words for this GO MINNESOTA!!!! ..and 2 more words GO BOB!!!!! I know Bob is not from Minn, but he lives here now, so we get the credit.
  3. Ya, it was an interesting ride, and I only went 10 miles on it.
  4. .... ... ...FINAL REPORT......GOVIES ALL HOME... I'm sorry to say to the 3 or 4 people who have been following this bs news report, sorry the my final report has taken so long. --All Govies home!!! except my computer which is still being shipped home (part of the delay of the final report) --Govies and MBI do another complete sweep!!!! "Minnesota sweep, part 2(end place)" that right, both MBI and the Govies took all the 2nd place stuff and went home, so if you want to know what it's like to be #2, come to Minnesota baby! ---NO BREAKDOWNS!!!except for the AC on the coach bus, but thats why we called 2012 "HOT" ---All in all, it was all pretty good, Govie land is still strong and planning their 2013 show "lost on a hot bus" ---Lastly, Congrats to the 2012 champs Carolina Gold. -----see you all next year
  5. On behalf of the Govenaires, congrats from all of us. . Days like this don't happen enough, so don't be afaid to smile alot. ..and thanks for the lesson
  6. You guys make drum corps fun!!! Very nice job. I told you guys that water had magic in it.
  7. ...SUN AFTERNOON....ON THE EAST COAST (somewhere)....GOVIES FINAL RUN OF YEAR WAS EPIC!!! --With no one watching except the staff and myself, the Govies tore up the practice field at the last run of the year, and are ready to "give it up" tonight. after the run, Norton did all the crying for the staff (normaly thats my job, but she is a good cryer, nice jerb Molly) --All is good in Govieland --Still planning on last call on Tues night, but for now we go for broke, because there is no tomorrow. --Go Govies!
  8. .....RePORT.....LATE SAT NIGHT.....GOVIES ARE HOT!!!!! WOW!! what a show, and it was HOT. Lots of fun was had by the corps, and we sweat, and sweat, and sweat. We sweat so much we did'nt even take a corps photo, 2 or 3 went down, and I needed to sit for a while myself. It was very hot! --Govies scored a 80.23 which was good enough for 2nd place. First place went to our new (and very talented) ach nemisis, Carolina Gold (81.03 I think). I would like to take this time to personaly thank them for the drum corps lesson. THANK YOU!! ,but tomorrow is another day --Sat was the biggest crowd I have ever seen for A-class prelims, congrats to all of A-class corps on the most talented set of shows A-class has ever seen. (this statment does not include Fusion, because you got big and moved away ) --DCA fan network was showen at Patrick's, 1000's of people showed up (30 alumni came, thanks) --The biggest hit of the night was the stadium, very nice place for a drum corps show, thank god there was one --Govies on for DCA finals at Sun, 6pm(ish) GO GOVIES!!! --Be home Tues for last call.
  9. ....REPORT....SAT AFTERNOON......GOVIES READY!!!! To everyone who has been looking for updates, I want you to know I tryed to post yesterday and failed to hit the send button, and screwed the whole thing up, so here is a quickie. --Bus ride from St.Peter was L O N G. 29 hours (new Govies record for longest continouos bus ride). everyone came off the bus looking like they were trying out for a new zombie movie, but all were in good spirits. --I&E on Fri night--- All Govie acts were great (as usual) so congrats to all performers. Govie choir sets new standard of excellence with a record top score (highest score ever in choir) with a 99.99* --Govies had a great practice today and ready to sell. SELL BEABY, SELL!!!! ............must hit the send button this time......carp, no send button * it may be noted that Govies were the only choir
  10. Govies in OHIO!!! Please pray for the Govies Ohio LOVES the Govies because it ALWAYS wants to keep them.
  11. Believe it or not, I found a new way to jump my beer. Come see what all the talk on the street is about, 5:35pm DCA snare solo's YAH BABY!!!!
  12. First report: This is the offical news and information thread, any and all Govie related tidbits will be found here. So far the Govie truck and the pit trailer have made the 1159 mile trip (in record time as usual) and all 6 members are preparing for the rest of the corps to arrive in town around 7pm(ish). This year in honnor of its 8th year at DCA, the Govenaires once again called up (well it was more like we talked him in to it again) their good friend Roman Blenski!!! (cue some kind of trumpet fanfare ) So if you are looking for the Govies we will once again be undercover as the Pioneer. (Please be advised that at anytime, anyone reading this update, may be asked to become members of the Govenaires and or, the Pioneer, Thankyou.) Go Govies!
  13. Dear Spandy (if that is your real name) Just for the record, the "Govies" (as you call them) didn't really try at the Mankato show, so that score doesn't really count, so if you could please give us back our 70, that would be special.
  14. The current side-of-field/parade drum major for the Govies is about 64. He says his arms are starting to go to hell. I said so are mine. but the real "old timer" of the midwest goes out to Frank from MBI who marched sop till he was 114. BTW, just saw Frank at Morristown, he looked good and promised to come march with the Govies.......again
  15. All the corps during prelims are judged the same. The top 10 (open class or a class)get the vote, and the top 10 in open class corps get to be in open class finals. So, an A class corps can not jump to open class just because they scored in the top 10.
  16. Do the 2 class A corps that finished in the top 10 for prelims 2011 count?
  17. Dear MCL I don't remember which side you are on. G or B flat. If you do the G thang, Govies still have a few low end G's
  18. This is great news. Love your brand of drum corps. Come to Minnesota and spread some Legend Love.
  19. Just wanted a quickie The Govies got camp, and Patrick's has a very cool "world beat" band, for a perfect weekend blend of Hot corps and cool friend and lots and lots of groovy beats. Who wants a ride?
  20. I predict the St.Patrick's day parade in St.Peter will be epic!!!!!! Come be a Govie for a day. no bus ride, but still a blast!!
  21. The 2011 Class A world Champion Govenaires have been busy denying rumors that they will be forced to go to open class in 2012. After a very productive open house weekend, it appears that the Govies will be bigger, stronger, faster, then EVER before, and with 84 seasons and 3 world championships under their belt, that is saying a lot. Here,s what some of the people in the "know" are saying this year about the Govies in 2012. "WOW" Sandee Conlin, corps director "Look at all the new faces" Jordan Warfield, new brass caption head. "NEW DRUMS!!!! we just got new ones last year!!!" --most of the horn line "lets move to open class!!"-- John Mayer, starting new rumors " Hey look, we finally got last years video" --don't remember, but I did hear it from someone. Well folks, there you have it, it's on the internet, so it must be true. Don't be afraid to jump on the 2012 Govie bus, and have some fun. p.s. Govies next camp is the 2nd weekend in Feb, and we got room for you. Love you all John Mayer WDCHOF 11
  22. What the Govies have now works well, but we want to get a 2 sided version with no "add-ons". Lets just say it's hard for a corps like the Govies to keep track of uniform stuff so we are just going to put the whole thing on one jacket. SOOOooooo, come get a new uni John Mayer WDCHOF11
