  1. Jim, Only when we raced from the South Shore to see who could get to rehearsal first (both of us had a full compliment of people). Although I wouldn't use the breakdown lane like Mr. Solari did.
  2. That was my first year with 27th. A raw rookie who only knew about drum corps from my dad's VFW albums (he marched with St. Kevin's) and some local EMASS shows he took us to. The family aspect of the corps was the one thing that I'll always hold dear to my heart. When me and my brother joined we had zero experience. Yet, George Zingali immediately took a shine to us and kind of made us his proteges (sp?). We had a lead soprano teach us and he also played third soprano parts with us into the season until we were comfortable with the parts. Many other members (too many to name) helped us as much as possible to learn how to play and march without falling over ourselves. This is something you'll never see today. We were welcomed with open arms and in turn we gave them everything we had for allowing us to be part of the 27th Lancer family. We too were in the right place at the right time. Thank you George and Patsy, George Zingali (may you all rest in peace) and all the Lancer family for being such a profound influence on my life.
  3. I still use that phrase with my band kids. But it's cleaned up a bit for obvious reasons.
  4. My daughter being born on this very day, February 27th, 1989.
  5. As did I. They pretty much played through the whole thing too.
  6. We stayed at Homewood H.S. in 1979. Nice suburb of Birmingham. Can't say the same for our accommodations in 1980. I truly believe that is why we lost that year (i jest of course).
  7. How about a pub crawl???? I'm sure we could map out a route for that.
  8. If you like soloists who pump their fists after a solo. Man, why did I do that!
  9. The contra soloist was Cliff White and it was in 1980-Open Wide. He aged out that year. We had a bari soloist in Niner Two in 81 and 82-a Mr. William Solari. I don't believe that solo was written. I think he picked it up off the album and tweaked it (with some help from the horn staff) from there.
  10. Brett and Tut are correct, it's Dave Vito and it's BILL Mendelson not FRED. If you know FRED, the tympani would have been bigger than him.
  11. I believe the baritones switched horns with the Kilties before a retreat. I'm not sure if it was at Finals though. I do know that the horns were switched back before we went out for retreat. I guess one of the Kilties horn instructors caught on to what was happening and ordered the switch back. Do you think the fact that the Kilties were holding baritones held together by electrical tape was a clue?
  12. I checked with him, OK, never mind! I found out where I painted that 2-7. :)
  13. I thought I painted a 2-7 on something the other night. Hmmm............
  14. Alright, alright we get it!!!!! We're too obsessed over who it is. That's me and my family for ya. :)
  15. It's not Daddario. Look at the face behind "my sister", that looks like Barbie. If so, Debbie is probably the end of the rifle line then "my sister" would start the flags. I'm stickcing with that that is my sister. Whether she thinks so or not.
  16. my sister doesn't think so. did the whole guard do the yellow hoops or was it just the rifle line? if just the rifle line then it's not my sister.
  17. She looks like my sister Krisanne. I'm going have to call her and find out if she marched next to Debbie.
  18. Better yet. I have a special secret overseas bank account you can deposit the money directly into. Once that is done we can setup a clandestine meeting someplace where I can hand over the goods.
  19. Terry, Leave it to you to go all management on us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Do you think you can handle the New England weather at this time of year? Or have you forgotten everything about us out here in the northeast? I certainly hope you don't think you'll need a winter jacket for those cool nights we have around here in October.
  21. Were you also the one who came up with the idea to spell out "The Lancers are Funny" with Coors beer cans at our practice facility?
