  2. Two come to mind for me. 1. 1975 DCI Finals after the Danny boy wheel and I looked up and saw the crowd. 2. 1980 DCI East finals......... :)
  3. We (27th) were in Disneyland for the Bicentennial and I have to say it was the BEST fireworks display I EVER saw, bar none.
  4. I'll never forget we were in Colorado somewhere and Zingali told us we sucked so bad at the show that we killed Elvis !!!!!
  5. Not at DCI he didn't. but to paraphrase Wes Hobby (sp?).....'when the competetive dust had settled at Manning Bowl, The 27th Lancers were World Open Champions' I too was there .....in the stands
  6. I can confirm that there was a huge turnover of members from 1979 to 1980, especially in the drumline. And after we returned from the Olympics a bunch of people did bail leaving us to find replacements for those memebrs too.
  7. When I graduated from Malden Catholic High School (1976), our graduation song was Crown Imperial March I particularly like the 1975 version
  8. See........I know weapons when I see one........and my shoes were spit shined ( might have been a little frozen)
  9. They were Rifles... I can also see my feet (5th tenor from left)
  10. James My dear friend, I always loved the Bridgemen and have many friends and thought 1977 was a shame for what happened to you. But DON"T be making fun of the RED sox Gees.... next you'll be telling me I have to love the GIANTS (who I used to like, until some jerk caught a football on his helmet and destroyed our perfect season) . HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my friends in 'Jersey. John
  11. I believe that Robin Menke from SCV created the fiberglass tenor harness at SCV in the early 70's. It was copied by many corps in that decade. I thought it was so cool that their drums could be folded up (so the drums heads were perpendicular to the ground and close to the player) when they were not playing so as to alleviate the weight distribution of being so forward heavy. Plus their drum lines were close to perferct visually. But when Blue Devils came out in '76 with the North Tenors I fell in love. Their uniforms made the harness completely disappear but the drums must have felt like carring tymps John
  12. Some even say the Albert Disalvo wasn't the strangler either !
  13. Yes James I do remeber them jumpin for joy that they were getting the chance to perform.
  14. I remeber Zingali yelling at us on the bus that we sucked so bad the night before that we killed Elvis
  15. My Bad....I don't even know who my friends are anymore :)
  16. This was my first show competing againt SCV in the BIG TIME and I still can't believe we beat them. Probably one on my proudest Drum Corps moments (along with 1980 DCI EAST)
  17. Hey Billy, I'm pretty sure that middle bass drummer is Tommy Murphy, Ann Murphy's brother and not my buddy, Steve Groh :)
  18. MY favorite too.. Loved 1971 27th Wes Hobby saying " and when the competetive dust had settled at Manning Bowl, the 27th Lancers were WORLD OPEN CHAMPIONS
