  1. It really depends on how severe your diabetes is. You are insulin dependent... This means you may run into many problems with long rehearsals, shows, traveling etc. Packing snacks and keeping your sugar levels may be another extra thing that could drain you very quickly. It also depends on what kind of corps are you trying to get a spot in. What instrument? If you are trying out for a top 12 corps, I would highly suggest you start working out more to see how you can handle it. While drum corps is not necessarily as physically demanding as most sports, it will work on you over a long period of time. I only caution you because I am an EMT/Firefighter. I wouldn't want you to have to go home during spring training because you are missing rehearsal or having to sit out to go grab a snack to keep your sugar up.
  2. Sure, we can get the order... But, what about performance times and the possibility of intermission? This is crucial to anyone who is planning parking lot warmup time.
  3. So, we won't find out the performance order until the night of the 17th. It probably won't even be posted then, more like the day of the event.
  4. On the website it says " Listed in reverse order of PERFORMANCE" This has to be a mistake right?
  5. Also, when will they post the times and event schedule?!
  6. speaking of slotting and SA... Is the performance order going to the be the one listed on DCI.Org? I have never seen such a random performance order! As listed: " Listed in reverse order of performance Blue Devils - Concord, CA Blue Knights - Denver, CO Blue Stars - La Crosse, WI Bluecoats - Canton, OH Boston Crusaders - Boston, MA Carolina Crown - Ft. Mill, SC Cascades - Seattle, WA Colts - Dubuque, IA Crossmen - San Antonio, TX Glassmen - Toledo, OH Holy Name Cadets - Allentown, PA Madison Scouts - Madison, WI Mandarins - Sacramento, CA Pacific Crest - Diamond Bar, CA Phantom Regiment - Rockford, IL Pioneer - Milwaukee, WI Revolution - San Antonio, TX Santa Clara Vanguard - Santa Clara, CA Spirit - Jacksonville, AL The Academy - Tempe, AZ The Cavaliers - Rosemont, IL Troopers - Casper, WY "
  7. Most people don't get sick to their stomach when they see tan lines. This is probably something that affects the older generation. Older people tend to pass more judgment. Younger people tend to live more freely. One Idea could be that he or she probably preferred to keep their skin out of the sun over being more aesthetically pleasing.
  8. Carolina Crown announced this afternoon that they will not be preforming tonight. http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=7...df-032e49794f8a Some kind of bug. Anyone know how many members came down with it? As posted on Facebook: "As some of you may have heard from your family member or friend in Carolina Crown the corps has a number of members "under the weather" today. We have been in constant contact with our medical consultants and local health care providers and have been shuttling those not feeling well to receive medical treatment. All those treated so far have tested negative for any type of flu virus (including those related to "swine flu"), and have been diagnosed with a cold virus. We have isolated those affected and are taking extra precautions with regards to our food service, cleanliness of the buses, etc. Please be assured that we have a very experienced administrative and support team in place that has handled similar situations over the 20 years of the corps' existence. We appreciate your concern and will keep you posted of any developments over the next day or two. -- Best Regards, Kevin Smith Carolina Crown "
  9. Correct, ( to above) I just bought the 59 dollar account even though I had the 39. Hopefully on monday they will refund me.
  10. I too have a 39 dollar account and want to upgrade..... I am about to just pay the 59 and then call them on monday and see if they can refund me so I am just upgrading.
  11. Right, I understand that it is more rare in the finals videos... But, there are a lot of pictures floating around of judges who are in the middle of a show while bleeding. I remember coming across a video of a montage of judges getting caught in traps. I just can't seem to find anything. I even remember a post by DCI a couple years ago that highlighted a judge who got knocked by a pole.
  12. I was searching around for some video/pictures of judges getting hurt. I have seen a lot of photos of judges getting hit by flags ( or run over). I couldn't find anything. Anyone have anything to share? :0
  13. Great job of taking my post out of context. Grade A!
  14. Speaking of the FN... It just went down ... Maybe they are putting something up? Edit: back up
  15. Pags, What experience do you have with video production? I personally am a full time firefighter/EMT, but in my off time I record video and edit for Misc. Side jobs. This could be anything from my youtube account or an end of the year video for a sport team or band. I also have entered and helped out with short films for local film festivals. You admit that there are videos on YT that have fantastic quality. One user comes to mind... Do you really think that the quality is high ONLY because the videos are closer up? Do you really need me to break apart your arguement? Some of those videos were recorded with a CANON 5D. This is an amazing video recording device. Youtube SUPPORTS HD uploads. There is no way you could even compare what is on the FN with what is on youtube. The 3rd party video hosting service that DCI is using wouldn't even support the quality that is uploaded on these youtube pages. Anyone with knowledge would know that the FN videos are low quality because they are being downgraded .
  16. First of all, corps have to go to all of the regionals. This means that they pretty much have to tour. It would be suicide for a corps to go to a small amount of shows. For one reason alone, money. There is no way they could afford to not go to shows. DCI corps are very competitive. But, they aren't going to stop touring all together.
  17. And to re-iterate this once more... I don't care how much Granny thinks that the videos online are good quality. THEY ARE NOT.... There are rehearsal videos on youtube that are better than what I am PAYING for. I personally run a youtube account ( non- DCI related). My webcam and my sony video camera can put out better quality sound and video. I have a large audience. DCI needs to find a company that will host the files and allow them to stream at a higher quality. End of story.
  18. This isn't the case. A 500 Dollar camera could put out higher quality Video and Audio than what is presented on the website. They Render the videos to a VERY low quality. That is why the videos are bad quality, it has nothing to do with the camera I can only guess why they do this. It lowers the amount of bandwidth the server puts out and it encourages APD downloads. I don't care if it is DCI who is downgrading the videos or brightcover, we paid DCI for videos and we are not satisfied with our result. DCI should have tested a 3rd party organization/company when they planned to release the videos through them. DCI can't just say " It isn't our fault..." ... It is.
  19. And, they are taking forever to post VOD videos.... Last year it was actually better. We have taken a huge step backwards.
  20. You could always bring food ( keep it in your car of course). I have done this a few years back. This way I could watch corps in the parking lot and eat at the same time and not waste too much time. This year I am bringing the GF with me so I will not be seeing the entire show. I will probably check out a few hornlines/runthroughs and make it to the show to watch the top 10.
  21. Thanks for the update. Remember if all hell breaks loose on the drill field, "duck and cover!"
  22. Being at the show site really early is generally not too exciting. This is because the actual corps will show up early before their step off time, rather than before the entire show starts. The thing to do is to find out rehearsal information of your favorite corps. Find out where they are staying and watch their run through. Then, you can get their schedule. Generally, most corps will show up an hour or two ( depending on the show) before they step off. The show before the show is in the parking lot! There is nothing like listening to a good hornline warm up! ( or drum line if that is your thing).
