  1. Please take a lute and smash it on the field ala Q'pid Star Trek style.
  2. I guess the term "sitting pretty" isn't what I meant. What I meant to say is that the corps and to whomever the proceeds from sales will go, will be in good financial straits as compared to other corps who have been forced to leave. Better to leave "on top" than to leave when you HAVE to. I doubt anyone is doing this to "get rich" but it does seem to benefit wherever the organization is going (The Edge etc.)
  3. Just think about it though, they've got buses, equipment, uniforms etc. When they sell all of it off, whomever the money goes will be sitting pretty instead of other corps that have been mentioned that NEEDED to sell assets. Financially it's a good move, for the activity it's terrible.
  4. Seems silly considering DCA's return to Rochester next year. At any rate DCA is losing a perennial contender.
  5. Someone really took the time to go through the beginning of the thread and negatively rep everyone who said that amps were a good idea. Talk about no life...
  6. Someday I will get to check out a rehearsal considering SS is the closest corps to me.
  7. Had a great time for the short time I was there on Saturday. The show concept is interesting to say the least, and the turnout was great. Wish I could have stayed longer but Sandy cleanup took precedence. Best of luck to you guys this year!
  8. There is no man more dedicated to his corps than Jim Gaiewski. Folks when they say bike, they mean bicycle, not motorcycle. There is no more worthy entrant into the Buccaneer HOF than him.
  9. Sounds like a blast, wish it was close enough to be possible for me!
  10. A great team. Justin was one of the best people I've ever had the chance to work for. A great addition to be sure.
  11. Again, I'll add that Schmitt and Wyatt are two of the best. Congrats Fusion on those acquisitions!
  12. Congrats Schmitt and Wyatt... two of the best percussive minds and best drum corps people I know.
  13. Per my wife, the Renegades should feature the song "Don't stop believin'" as part of the 2013 production.
  14. If it's a loose based organization and policing is up to the individual corps, than how can the organization say "we have the power to ban you" in one case and "it's not up to us to police you" in another?
  15. Very much so, in fact I've only met her husband once and the only reason was to tell him to **** off, after which I left.
  16. I smell a (albeit unwarranted) ...3... coming soon.
  17. A friend of mine married her band director and has 2 children by him. Their relationship started in 10th grade but was kept hushed until she was 18. She is also now employed at the same school district.
  18. I was at prelims and the closest I saw were the ones several people must have made on themselves directly caused by Roland's stratospheric notes!
  19. Never let facts get in the way of a good story - Richie "Whitey" Ashburn
  20. Everyone does need to remember that the actions of individual people are just that, individual actions done by individual people. How many times have organizations been misrepresented by their members, not just in drum corps? While I still hold that whatever happened had to be pretty serious for this to happen, I still think that this punishment really hurts those members of the Renegades who were not involved in this incident the most. If I were a member of the Renegades who was not a part of this I would be upset at those members who were, but I'd be even more upset at DCA for punishing everyone for the actions of a few. Thankfully in drum corps everyone is a free agent. Hopefully those members, if they do not choose to go to Europe, will find homes in drum corps that will welcome them for being good individual members and not cast a blanket of blame on them based on their previous corps affiliation.
  21. Please don't read into the following as insinuation on my part. It's ironic that Mr. Rudnicki was just starting a thread about DCA's marketing strategy going forward. One would ASSUME (yes I'm assuming, get over it) that unless there was something SIGNIFICANTLY SERIOUS about what happened with the Renegades in Annapolis it would not be in their best interest (from a marketing standpoint) to prohibit their return in 2013. Again I do not claim to know all the facts (in fact I know virtually none) all I know is that an organization that is the head of a multi-million dollar activity doesn't ban a corps over just a few noise complaints. The world may never know the entirety of what went into DCA's decision, but the bottom line is from a marketing standpoint, no organization (in this case drum corps) wants to align themselves with a larger organization (in this case DCA) who bans a corps based on a whim. I think we need to channel Mulder and Scully on this one, because the truth is out there. It's probably somewhere near the ham sandwich.
  22. I happen to love the Renegeades. Their corps, their attitude, their music and from those whom I've met, their people. Best of luck in Europe, it will be a great experience for all members I'm sure. I will miss seeing you next year.
  23. Minesh, my first baritone tech at Cabs. Congratulations man, best of luck with the new position!
  24. You guys were great at Prelims, good job with the hornline Matt!
